This Week on the Blog
Alright, Rangers haven't made any trades yet, the Knicks started playing games again, the Giants lost their DB coach, and the Yanks kept getting ready. It's been a pretty dull week. Let's take a look at this one.
Yankees: The Yankees begin their preseason schedule today, against Boston. So that will be fun. In other news, the Yanks have made John Kremer, their new pitching coordinator. Not sure what that says about Scott Aldred and Danny Borrell, but Kremer started out on the sports since side, and you'll recall the Yanks recently hired Dillon Lawson as their new hitting coordinator, and he's an ex-pitching coach who specializes in teaching hitters how to recognize pitches. So I wonder if Kremer will also be a different kind of coordinator. Progress or nonsense? I guess will see. Not much other news, though Clint Frazier has been hitting bombs in the early going.
Giants: the Giants will be heading to the Combine this week, and let's hope everyone works out. We have to see if Kyler Murray is freak enough to take at 6. For that to happen, he's gotta have good hand size and velocity, as well as run a 4.4 and sub-7 3-cone. Otherwise, it's always a fun week. They also have to find a new DB coach, because Lou Anarumo left to become DC for the Bengals. Maybe they'll meet someone at the Combine.
Rangers: the NHL trade deadline hits Monday at 3pm est. Looks like the Rangers will be sellers again, so they've scratched Hayes, Zucc and McQuaid from today's lineup. This may or may not be a good series of moves, as it will depend on the return. The issue is, they could keep them and perhaps make the playoffs this year. So, the take back on trades has to be worth giving up that kind of experience. So far the pundits are saying it will be 2nd round picks and B prospects, and I'm not sure that's going to be worth breaking up the team. A few teams, including Toronto have called about Kreider, but that should cost a 1 and and an A prospect. We'll see what happens.
Knicks: The Knicks played their first game since the All-Star break last night and lost. Kevin Knox had another one of his Toby Knight type games, but the other kids didn't do much. DeAndre had another double double. Is this thing over yet? Tanking is trying.
So there it is. Rangers likely to be active. Yanks are back on the diamond. Giants are heading to the Combine and the Knicks keep tanking. Have a great one!

I understand being skeptical about Bird, but the twitiot peeps are ridiculously negative. So I will root even harder for him.
Gleyber!!!!!!!!!!
Bird oppo double!
Clint!
Wade doubles and steals 3rd. Scores on a Lipka double. Lipka scores on a Hicks double.
Bird lines a single!
Suzyn loves the Red Sox.
Florial singles!
I don’t expect it but what I’d like to see is Bird starting at first and Frazier in left on opening day and the forseeable future.
It likely comes down to whether or not you think Voit is the real deal. I think he is personally, which is why I want him at DH and Stanton in left, even if Clint Frazier gets the short end of the stick.
I agree that Bird needs to be the one at first if he is producing.
I just hope it’s an equal competition.
Off-topic, but I would love to know why they didn’t want Robertson back. Definitely seems that was the case.
Without checking, weren’t his peripherals trending in the wrong direction?
I don’t know but Gardner’s stats were all going in the wrong direction and they brought him back.
Wade doubles, Voit singles him home. 1-0 Yanks mid-first.
I think the difference between Gaardy and DRob is "leadership."
Florial singles, and steals second.
Goes to 3rd on a pass ball.
Scores on a wild pitch.
Trevor Stephan gives up back to back jacks, then another long flyball out, a K and then another homer....
I’m sure l leadership is where they are coming from but when you’re no longer even average I think it’s overrated or worse if you are blocking a better player.
Yanks win!
Knicks win with Double Doubles from Mitch and Knox!
Hicks has 70m 7 years. Something in it for everyone
Happy for him. That’s a good deal that isn’t an Ellsbury-esque albatross that would block a deserving prospect from playing the outfield.
It may be a significant underpay as long as he stays healthy. I’m sure that’s what the Yankees position is and why they gave him such a long contract.

Dodgers may be the mystery team on Harper
Today, the New York Yankees would like to welcome aboard Special Advisor to the General Manager, Andrew Eugene Pettitte.
Mitchell Robinson is a beast. 17 points, 14 boards, 6 blocks and 3 steals!
