Breaking: Clint Frazier's Been Promoted

This is just breaking but Clint Frazier is on his way back to join the Yanks.  He has been on fire, and I think this is a sign that they don't want to waste his production in the minors. I assume David Hale will be gone.  Going into NL games, this will give the Yanks a better pinch hitting option than Gleyber Torres or Austin Romine.

I’m glad we convinced Cashman. ;)

And I hope isn’t that showcase bullshit. Unless it’s to showcase Hicks, who sucks.

I'm wondering myself if it's just to have a better pinch-hit option in an NL park.

And if not, it's definitely a showcase. But if he showcases himself to be better than Hicks, then all the better for him and the team.

I think it is a NL thing. Then back to pretending Hicks is good.

Very much a showcase. I don't think he has the wheels to play CF. He is best suited for LF.

Perhaps he plays tonight facing Gonzalez.

Trade him for Sonny Gray. Oh wait.

Should I be surprised?

Heyman

source confirms cano is getting 80-game suspension for PEDs

Melky A-Rod,..

Drugs may help you get richer.

At 11:08 AM, Blogger Rich said...

I assume the suspension starts after his DL stint.

At 11:14 AM, Blogger Rich said...

Can’t wait for the Yankees knew so they didn’t sign him. LOL

Cano suspension is for a diuretic, which is seen as a masking agent. suspension is treated as a PED tho.

He is getting a break with the broken pinky (no pun intended)

Mariners 2B Robinson Canó suspended 80 games after testing positive for Furosemide. He will start the suspension immediately.

Hicks is going on the DL, hence the call-up. My guess is Frazier will alternate with Stanton as the LFer/DH and can also play center in a pinch.

Hicks cannot be counted on. Rinse. Repeat.

Well, after I posted that, the lineup was announced with Hicks leading off. Dan Federico was the one who reported it, then he came back and said that wasn’t official. I’m so confused.

NYY Sports Talk: Clint Frazier was not called up to replace an injured Aaron Hicks. That can now be confirmed as Hicks is in the #Yankees starting lineup tonight.

So what’s the corresponding roster move?

Weird.

It’s Hale and fair well.

No Frazier tonight. Perhaps pinch hits later in the game.

Bryan Hoch: “Brian Cashman said Clint Frazier’s call-up could be a short term situation to get through the Interleague games. Aaron Hicks and Brett Gardner are seen as the centerfielders, and Cashman would prefer to carry an extra pitcher.”

This is kind of dumb. If the team were still getting an average of four innings out of its starters I could maybe understand, but they don’t need 13 pitchers.

Especially bad pitchers like Hale.

I wonder if this is an example of an outlier that is not reflective of an otherwise largely clean group of MLB players or an outlier in that most MLB players are users but are more careful with their masking agents.

I fear it might be the latter.

They don’t play their best players or put the lineup together to reflect their players’ true talent

Didi went from awesome to awful.

At 5:03 PM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

Didi has been cursed by the BABIP gods this month. He could use an off day, though.

Drury is apparently well enough to play, but Cashman has demoted him on the depth chart at third, supposedly.

Welcome back Tyler Austin!

He doesn’t walk either, Mike. His struggles are always going to come and they are always going to last a little longer than they should if he had a better approach on a consistent basis.

Stop sucking Hicks

Frazier wins this as a PH if Shreve doesn’t pitch.

Another PB for Sanchez. Gonna catch with him one day.

At 6:29 PM, Blogger Rich said...

He does everything else well yet some people focus on one weakness in his game.

At 6:45 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Should have been ruled a wild pitch since it bounced first. Anyway, I guess I wasn't clear enough when I said we don't talk about that here. We have enough morons all over the internet and in the announcer booths wining about it. Anyone who does it here will henceforth be addressed as Suzyn.

Suspended until tomorrow

Didi’s incremental improvements as a player each year since the acquisition have led me to believe the plate discipline we saw in April wasn’t a fluke. The BABIP gods come for all major leaguers eventually, and they are merciless. I have more faith in him than Hicks, for example, who really hasn’t shown much save for a couple of months last year.

At 4:04 AM, Blogger Rich said...

I definitely have more faith in him than Hicks, Didi is close to all-star caliber, I don’t even think Hicks is a major league starter. As for his plate discipline, I need to see more. And as I said, I think the inconsistent plate discipline is the reason he is prone to longer slumps.

At 4:48 AM, Blogger Rich said...

I don’t fully understand Cashman‘s comments on Drury. He makes it sound, and perhaps I’m reading it wrong, that if Andujar does not consistently produce Drury will be the third baseman. But for example, Hicks hadn’t produced (except for two months of his Yankee career) and he still a starter in the outfield.

In no way am I saying Drury can’t be good player, I don’t know either way, but I don’t like that Andujar has to play with the idea that he is vulnerable to being sent down if he has a slump.

Axisa thinks it’s just healthy competition, and that could be right, but who’s competing with Hicks? Will Frazier get a legitimate opportunity?
