A Gleyber of Love
This might have been the craziest one yet. First, Domingo German pitching six no-hit innings with 9K's and 2BB's. He got lifted for pitch count. At the same time, the Yanks were being one hit. Betances was dominant in the 7th, but went back for the 8th, and couldn't get anyone out. Holder finished it but the Yanks were down 4-0 and being 1 hit going into the bottom of the 8th. They scored three runs keyed by a Judge double. Shreve, of all people, pitched a scoreless 9th. Then Hicks lead off with a double, Wilson doubled him in to tie it, then Andujar grounded out, Stanton walked, and then Gleyber Torres walked us off with a 3 run blast! Holy crap! We have another exciting young starting pitcher, and our best 2B since Cano! Yanks finally have a day off tomorrow and I think we can all use one. What a team!

It’s kind of amazing that on a team with so many good young hitters that the youngest one could turn out to be the best.
Cone is starting to piss me off.
Holy crap. I checked Twitter and figured they lost, then I see Didi’s tweet.
I said before it almost felt like Gleyber was sliding under the radar. That probably won’t be the case much longer.
Youngest Yankee to hit a walk off homer since Mantle. Melky also hit one before 22, but he should be a cautionary tale for all these kids.
DH Greg Bird: 1-3, 2 BB — this update comes via Mike Mazzeo … this is Bird’s first game action since ankle surgery, but because he’s in ExST, it does not count as an official rehab assignment … I imagine he’ll spend a few days here to get up to speed before joining an affiliate to begin a 20-day rehab stint … Tampa to Scranton is the usual route
It will be interesting to see who gets sent down for Drury and Bird once they are ready.
I would imagine Cole would be DFA'd or Holder sent down for one of them.
The other would be either Austin who can be sent down or Walker traded.
As of now my guess is Austin.

Boone said “any day” now Bird will be assigned to either Tampa or Scranton for rehab games. Last two days played in extended spring games -- @eboland11

Terrible send. Cone is right.
Hicks and Bradley, Jr, have sort of similar career trajectories.
Jonathan Loaisiga is making his AA debute. Gave up a homer in the 4th, but leading 3-1.
Hicks and Gardner have been mostly nonexistent offensively save for Hicks's ability to walk. If that keeps up, maybe they should platoon in center and Clint Frazier should get a shot at LF/DH?
Definitely.
Also, Austin is going to be sent down at some point and I suspect Andujar as well.
If Andujar is hitting there’s no way he gets sent down, so it’ll all be based on performance with him. Even if he were to get sent down, I don’t think it would be the end of the world when you factor service time and the extra year of control they would gain.
The bigger issue is center field. Even if Hicks isn’t the player we saw last year, I’m not sure there’s a better option available until Florial is ready.
Andujar isn’t controlling the strike zone at all. That’s the root of his problems.
Boone said that Brandon Drury still isn’t where he or the Yankees want him to be. He’s expected to remain in the minors for now. -- @BryanHoch
