Severino Shuts Out the Stros
Giancarlo Stanton had two homers and a double to drive in all four Yankee runs, and usually that would be the big story. But it wasn't Luis Severino, the Yanks 24 year old ACE was. He just pitched a complete game 5H, 1BB, 10K, complete game shutout. I actually think he's the first homegrown guy to do that since Gator. Righetti did it, too, but he wasn't exactly homegrown (maybe 60% when we got him as a minor leaguer in the Sparky Lyle trade). Don't think Andy ever completed one, and don't think Joba, Ian or Phil ever had a complete game, let alone a complete game shutout. And he did it the the Cheatin' Champs, too. Not bad, not bad at all. If Sevy has gone full Pedro, and Stanton is back to being Stanton... look out. Also Gleyber Torres had two hits and made a great catch when Sevy was in his only jam. One more tomorrow, then home.

Chien-Ming Wang did it in 2006 vs.Tampa Bay on July 28.
I wish he and Joba never got hurt.
Funny, I mentioned him the other day and didn't think of CMW now.
Stay healthy.
So, Keuchel is good, but I'm not sure he's as good as what he's going to command in the offseason. Kikuchi is intriguing, but he's gonna get a lot of money for a guy with a fairly alarming injury history.
Just not many attractive pitching options this coming offseason.
Corbin could he that guy after he turned it around since the second half of last year.
Kershaw could be another of he opts out but cant see LAD not retaining him.
You can see Pedro’s mentoring in the way Sevy works.

Kind of an obvious move I think he is the weak link of the organization.
Yankee pitching has been solid overall so far and it is a credit to Rothschild.
Gray pitched better in his last start and should build on that as the weather warms up.
Wait. Gray has been much worse than he was in Oakland, he has one good start and Rothschild gets credit? Seriously.
And this is a team that has sucked at developing starting pitching for 20 years.
HOUSTON — Yankees top pitching prospect Justus Sheffield has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton, VP of baseball operations Tim Naehring told YES Network on Thursday.
Green was Girardi’d.
Just a bad outing. Sometimes your relievers aren't going to have it, and from what I understand, the Astros got lucky with two bloop singles and a bad HBP call. That's baseball.

Gleyber is a stud and it almost feels like no one is noticing.
Torres is a stud. Kid can do it all. Smooth at 2B unlike Castro.
I like that he is so good at contact.
Fiz
dale?
Shreve sucks and maybe Boone was a little too nonchalant about this lead.
Didi’s approach lately is regressing.
Chapman be spent.
People are killing Sanchez. But 102 head level is tough.
Win.
Shreve had been good overall but didnt gave it tonight.
Sanchez will always be known for his bat. He has a tremendous arm but needs to improve on his catching skiils.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Romine catch in late and close games down the stretch.
We've been crushing a lot of closers.
You can jrely on Shreve.
Please stop this Romine stuff. Blaming Sanchez for that is BULL.
Boone called it a cross up. People blamed Posada for everything too.
Receiving is a work in progress for Sanchez, but if you're blaming him for not being able to catch 102 mph heaters that Chapman has no idea where they're going, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Andujar is telling the Yankees' front office where to stick it.

Calling an audible. No more catastrophizing about Gary's D. He picked off a dude who got a serious jump on stealing third tonight, too, and hit a bomb. The game got tied, not just because the bulllpen might be in a dead arm period, but also because the Yanks stopped grinding aftert they scored 5. Did the same thing after scoring 3 yesterday. They'll have more and more games like this if they keep exhaling after they score some runs. Bug news is what Miggy and Gleyber are doing both with their bats and their gloves.
Austin doesn’t get to play much.
Hicks does despite being mediocre or worse for the vast majority of his career.
Gardner has produced in the past, but he has to lead off?
