Yanks Pop Prep Pitcher Nolan Martinez in Rd 3

The Yanks just took 17 year old RHP Nolan Martinez out of Culver City, which is a neighborhood in LA.  The kid already had a velo spike, plus a good curveball and feel for piching, and he's 6'2" and only 165 pounds right now with plenty of projection left.  He has a commitment to San Diego State, but it probably won't be a problem.  He's a very good athlete who also played 1B for Culver City.  He threw a one hitter with 7K's a several weeks ago that got a mention in the LA Times.  He'll turn 18 later this month.  

So, once again the Yanks have taken a prep pitcher out of SoCal.  The sky's still blue, and the Bradford pick isn't making them shy away from another high upside prep.
