Giants and Eli Closing a 4/84M Extension

The Giants and their two time SuperBowl MVP are reportedly putting the finishing touches on a 4 year, 84 million dollar extension that should see Eli finish his career in big blue.   This actually does look like a bit of a hometown discount if the AAV is really 21.   The way deals have been going up, anything form 22-24 seemed possible, so if the numbers are correct, it's a bit of a hometown discount.   Good to know they got it done, and hopefully it leaves them flexibility to extend Prince, Odell and perhaps Pugh, Hankins and others when the time comes and if it comes over the next four years.

Definitely Hankins.

The Pats have pretty much made cheating an art form. It's impressive; contemptible, but impressive. And to make things worse, they're really will run through the normal channels.

Spagnuolo:

"I love Markus. First of all, he can speak German. Actually, I was in NFL Europe over in Germany. We talk about that a lot.

"I think the way the guy is made up, he's a hard worker, where he came here, how he got here, that's a defensive tackle. He obviously works in the offseason, he's in great shape, he's done some real good things.

"We have to get him in there, put him in in the right spot at the right time. I love the guy and I love the way he works."

Cruz and Beason are out for Sundays, and that's hardly a surprise.

The whole Beason episode since the trade epitomizes the decline of the Giants under Reese.

There is nothing wrong with looking for reclamation projects at bargain prices, but the degree to which their defensive fortunes have been tied to him based on a part of one season is sad. Then they gave him a large contract even though he was (and continues to be) never healthy. That speaks to their desperation and ineptitude.

It beyond stunning that the team that was known for LBs could not draft a decent LB until, it seems, Kennard, in over a decade.
