Randy Winn?

We're now hearing reports that the Yanks have signed Randy Winn, pending a physical. All this does is assure the Yanks that they will be trading even more prospects at the deadling if Gardner does not come through as a starting OF. Winn is probably not a better player than Gardy right now, and his best position would probably be "retired." Ponderous.

Cashman's weakness has always been marginal roster construction. It still is.

Horrible. Just horrible. No excuse for the New York Yankees to punt a position, period.

BTW, Randy Winn has been a better left-handed batter than right-handed batter the last three seasons. Cashman and co. deserve to get roasted for this.

Not in 2008, but he still stinks.

Instead of flushing the money on Winn, Mitre, and Gaudin, give it to Haiti.

Sherman also had this:

The Yankees believe there could be a chance to reach a minor-league agreement with a righty-hitting outfielder who does well against southpaws, with Rocco Baldelli a possibility.

Not sure about this...

Haha I read that on your post over at LoHud.

Cashman and Hal screwed up badly with this.

Doesn't make any sense. We better have a big draft and IFA period.

I suspect Hal will likely be even cheaper on the draft and IFA this time around. Cutting costs seems to be the mantra.

The Rays may sign Damon. That would suck.
