Johnny On the Clock?

Jon Heyman has tweeted that Johnny Damon has a few days to take a low money deal from the Yanks before they move onto other targets. Hopefully, the deal includes incentives that will reward Johnny for another good year, and hopefully he agrees to it. Go Yanks!

Oh please no!

Do we really want Johnny at a low salary? He might now play at 100%.

Move on to guys like Nady/Johnson or Byrnes.

Please accept this deal, Johnny. PLEASE. None of the other options are close to being good
ones.

1 year 5MM as speculated by SI.

I think he'll play hard, cause he saw what it did for Abreu and Pettitte after they had to take low money last year. Johnny misplayed this and he'll be the most exposure playing for the Yanks.

He would be awesome in our line up and gives us another proven winner, but like some, I am concerned if the Yanks low ball him too much. However, I'm not sure Johnny will have any better opportunities and I expect him to sign.

Cash denies it.

I think it's Boras using Heyman to get other teams to make offers.

Cash also denied talking to Edmonds and some of the others.

Olney says that ML sources think the deadline is coming from the Boras/Damon side.

Yanks supposedly inquired about Nelson Cruz?

I saw that. I hope not.

Nady went to the Cubs.

Still hoping the Yankees and Damon get something done, despite public reports.

I don't understand why they are flushing close to $4m on Mitre and Gaudin, who both basically stink, instead of giving the money to Damon.

They need "depth." Which, if they want the kind of depth both of those guys provide, just trot out Kei Igawa.

Find out who between Joba and Phil is the fifth starter, send the other to AAA, and then let him, Zach McAllister and Ivan Nova act as depth.

Golson in SWB will be interesting. Perhaps Long can work with him and get his straightened out.
