Big Maple Goes Big Time
Now this was more like it. James Paxton just threw 8 innings of shutout ball against Boston. He only gave up 2 hits and a walk while striking out 12. If you see Carlos Beltran, thank him. This is exactly the guy they thought they were trading for, and as it often seems, it was someone other than the pitching coach that got him back on the beam. He was as high as 99 on the gun, and obviously wasn't tipping his curveball anymore. Pure dominance.
Joe Harvey gave up an infield hit and nothing else in a scoreless 9th to complete the game.
For their part, the Yankee O scored 8 runs, featuring homers from Frazier, Gleyber and Tauchman, who had a bit of a breakout game. And Urshela, made a phenomenal mid-air throw from foul territitory to nail Betts when the game was still competitive. First great night in the Bronx all season.

Yep. But keep Beltran in the org until the switch can be made.
I understand needing depth, but maybe this isn’t the team for JA Happ to be learning how to pitch with diminished stuff on the go?
If facts matter, Frazier is winning a job.
I got onto Happ earlier so credit to him for giving some length after the rough start.
I know it’s early but I think the Sox really are butt.
It’s a free season for the RS, though.
The NYY should’ve signed Corbin
Gardner seems to be trying for a homerun every time up. It’s feast or famine at this point.
Big win and quality start from Happ. Was sure Clint was gonna homer. Wish he was a better fielder.
He still needs to be in the field.
Or DH.
How’s is he going to get better in the field if he’s the DH?
Split time there and in left with Stanton. Voit plays first. Thinking more long-term, they might want to commit to Andujar as a first baseman since it’s clear he can actually hit.
He'll have offseasons to fix his crappy fielding, but I would try not to play him in left in any game that matters.
I strongly disagree. As long as he hits baseball players are the sum total of their offense and defense, so it makes sense to play him there.
If Happ had a good start, German did too.
If they don't realize Holder and Green have no business pitching in close games, I don't know what it's going to take to convince them.
Truth.
And Frazier keeps hitting.

Then again, what are we supposed to expect when Brett Gardner is still getting more at-bats than anyone else on the team, DJ LeMahieu is in full blown BABIP regression mode (now 2-for-20 in his last five games), and the bottom third of the order is Mike Ford, Austin Romine, and Tyler Wade? The Yankees aren’t exactly running a powerhouse lineup out there these days. Clint Frazier went from fun story to integral part of the offense in a hurry.

Cashman hired this idiot who leads off Gardner. Or is he being dictated to?
The Yankees and Morrison agreed on a minor-league deal on Friday, the Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. The signing of the slugging first baseman/DH comes days after the team announced that Greg Bird suffered a torn plantar fascia and will miss at least a month.
deGrom’s elbowed barking. Never trade for expensive pitches.
Stuck on NWK airport. Flight delayed. Following game on app.

CC > Happ
Glad Wade got 2 hits.
