This Week on the Blog
This week we saw progress from the Knicks and Rangers as they both won their first road games, the Giants might have lucked out on waivers, and the Yanks may or may not have given Brett Gardner a scholarship year. Now let's take a look at this week.
Yankees: MLB free agency is now open, and some believe the market will develop quickly. We already know that the Yanks will not be in on Bryce Harper as this point. Those things can change as they did with Tex ten years ago. We'll see. Some take this to mean they are all in on Manny Machado, who, because he was traded in season, won't cost a draft pick. That said, if they do got after Corbin as one of perhaps starters they get, he will cost the draft pick. Of coure the Yanks are still loaded for trades and the best possible outcome from this offseason could be getting everything they want without sacrificing any draft picks. The trade market usually develops during the GM meetings, which, I believe, start tomorrow. Let's hope whatever they do is both exciting and makes sense.
Giants: The Giants are on their bye week. Hopefully, they are practicing and getting Jamon Brown enough reps to slide in as their new Right Guard. He can really solve a problem for the Giants if things work out.
Knicks: Wow. The Knicks are developing right before our eyes. Friday, Mitchell Robinson had a double double in what was only his 4th start. And Alonzo Trier came off the bench to score 24. Frank is getting better, and Dotson looks like another great second round pick. Kevin Knox is due back as soon as Monday, and he may be the best of the bunch. And then KP will either be back to finish this year or start next. There's wide presumption around the fanbase the Knicks will go after one or two big tickey FA's. The real possibility suddenly exists that the Knicks will just need continued development, and continued Spursian good draft -- and they might not need to add Superstars because they will have produced three or four of them. This is amazing. Even young and undermanned as they are, they've been in every game and now they're starting to beat some teams. They have back to backs today and tomorrow. Let's see how they handle them. And Coach Fiz has walked his talk. Let's keep this one.
Rangers: The Rangers are also younger and developing (what the hell, Giants?). They're having some trouble scoring and have only gotten one win in regulation, with others coming by shootout. Still, a system is growing and the farm has been substantionally refreshed over the last two drafts. Frustratingly, Chytil hasn't scored yet, though he's been aggressive. And after a good start, Buchnevich has been a healthy scratch lately. Seems to be Coach Quinn's favorite weapon. Like the Knicks, they are always playing hard and I just can't knock that. The goals will come.
So there we are. We have one ponderously bad team, and two exciting young teams, as well as the Yanks who have been health luck and trade luck away from winning the whole thing and have a chance to fix their luck starting now. Have a great week, everyone!

Phil thank you for all you do, and the positivity on this blog. I’m so happy I came back. When I left I had some family problems that are resolved, and didn’t have patience for much. Your blog and all of the posters here, are a great group of people.
The whole Harper thing smells like Teix all over. Are we now not to believe the Yankees have interest? They do on their terms. It seems like they are loaded up for the trade market. I could envision a scenario where the get Corbin, and make a trade for Kluber or another frontnliner. Reporters keep, forgetting the A-Rod connection regarding Machado. You know Arod already had their ear and is telling them to sigin him.
Knicks and Rangers both are a fun watch right now. Competing most nights and getting a win here or there. Looking forward to seeing when Knox and KP return.
Giants..... 1-15 Enough said lol.
Thanks and rings or harmony around you and your family.
The NYK, even developing before our eyes, are must see. Trier, as somebody said is a lower case Harden. The other potential Gs except for Timmy are very inconsistent. Robinson is just scratching the surface of his talent. I can’t wait to see Knox. Some have suggested trading Hardaway to sign be in a position to sign 2 max deals. No need to decide now.
The Yankees seem too complacent that their existing ways yield WS results when they haven’t won one without the old core, and those were many years ago. So in their insular world Boone gets all As, Rothschild stays, and they keep two bad older players in OF. That’s not state of the art decision making.
But the Yankees are well run although not a well enough run franchise. In contrast, the Giants are an embarrassing mess with the worst owner in sports treating it like a personal fiefdom of incompetence.
If you have to project makeup of any starting pitcher coming in from the outside, maybe it means you have to get in-house development right because homegrown player may be more able to adjust to NY pressure because they come of age in the NYY crucible.
I would be fine with Eovaldi. That was one of my favorite Cashman trades because even though it didn’t work out the thought process was right.

There are certain guys, Bumgarner for example, with whom I think it wouldn’t be an issue. Of course, that doesn’t account for whatever natural decline Bumgarner may be experiencing.
I’m much more annoyed by ownership’s continued obsession with “cost-effectiveness.” Just field the best team possible.
Brutal Knicks loss, but, damn are they fun and are the refs ever screwing them.
The New York Giants can obtain up another one or two picks in the 2019 NFL Draft by releasing two role players from their current 2018 roster.
According to NFL salary cap expert Nick Korte of OverTheCap.com, the Giants could receive up to two additional 2019 draft picks if they release wide receiver Cody Latimer and safety Michael Thomas. The draft picks would come in the form of 2019 compensatory picks. The deadline to make this decision comes in Week 10 and first-year general manager Dave Gettleman would have to make that decision in the coming days.
Eli taking first team snaps. Franchise in crisis Year 7ish.
If Cashman brings both CC and Happ back it’s the same shit. I like Eovaldi much more.
New Yankee post.
Lance Thomas: loose body knee cleanups. 4 weeks then re-evaluated
