Didi's Getting TJS

At the year end presser, Brian Cashman revealed that Didi Gregorius needs TJS. This probably means he won't be back in time to start the season.  When Torres had his TJS, he missed half a season and then came back this past Spring.  So Didi will probably miss months at the beginning of next season. Torres or Tyler Wade can play SS while they wait.

It is throwing arm. The Torres injury might not be a guide according to Cashman.

I think they will acquire a second baseman so they may not just integrate Didi in.

I think Machado becomes more likely.

August doesn’t leave much time for the season, but if they believe in him maybe they can sign him to an extension more cheaply even if he doesn’t play much in 2019.

Cashman on a Gregorius timeline: "Is it bring him back in June, July, August? I think all depends on how it plays out. I’d rather not put a time frame on it. We do expect to get him back and we do expect him to return to the player we’ve been enjoying for quite some time.”

Cashman also said they were aware of an elbow issue when they traded for him but it was what he called “asymptomatic” at the time.

Rich, agree with you regarding Machado. They have money to spend, and spend they will. In your perfect off-season what would you like to see them do?

For me, Kikuchi, trade for a 1/2, Happ/Ryu on a 1-year deal, one of Machado/Harper, trade Stanton to LA. (Not a hater, but he’s sort of redundant in the Yankees’ lineup.)

Don’t want Happ

I don’t think there is any way they pass on Machado now with Didi hurt, especially given his pending free agency after 2019.
