Giants Get Reffed and Look Horrible at Home

The Giants are now 1 and 3.  Eli looked timid all day, and the playbook doesn't yet look like it's designed to feature OBJ and Saquon. The first play of the game was an end around to OBJ, then all creativity went out the window.  OBJ still doesn't have a TD. The Defense bent but didn't break in the first half, but then broke and couldn't bend in the second half.  The refs screwed the Giants no less than 5 times.  Also, Pat Shurmur doesn't know how to use timeouts.

Promote Bettcher at some point.

Immobile QB and a hopeless pourous OL is a bad combo.

^*hopelessly*

The defense is decent given the injuries, yet the CW going into the season was that the offense would have to. carry the defense. Yet Bettcher has found a way. Shumur isn’t showing that.

O’Hara thinks they run better with insides zones and he thought Odell would be making double moves because that had been effective against them.

This is a mess.

Rolle thinks they should have tested their soft zone, not getting the ball into playmakers hands.

Disappointing on many levels. Sentimentality is a fatal weakness in professional sports and the Maras are guilty.

Side note, I became aware of you and your blog many years ago through Bbi. What happened to that place? Many of the best posters are gone. Lots of trolling. Yankee threads are an abomination. Can someone give me Cliffs notes? Was there a purge?

Why draft Barkley if you are only good rush him 10 times?

The problem is the owner.

Good that he admitted it, but why get a 50 something head coach who is still leaning? I would rather have on the job training with a McVay type.

I don't know about embarrassing, but yes, Shurmur should have used his timeouts. He admitted as such in hindsight after the game.

Shurmur said Eli needs to be “aggressive and not reckless.”

He can’t do that at this point in his career. We’ve seen that Eli needs a plus offensive line to succeed. He no longer has the skill set to be aggressive under the present circumstances. What a cluster fuck of decision-making.

They cannot pass on a quarterback high in the draft again.

OK F the Giants, I’m focused on the Knicks and Yankees

Playing Eli anymore at this point makes no sense at all.

That’s not practical given their “plan” It could still work out, however unlikely that seems now.
They could reach that point.

Love this:

David Fizdale says he's going to make an effort to connect Knicks legends from the past with this team. Patrick Ewing talked to them today. Willis Reed reached out and they may connect when NYK are in Louisiana. "It's the strand of the DNA that we have to keep."

The Knicks top young players are exciting.

Mahomes is awesome and the kind of QB who could still be effective with this OL. I wonder what their offer was given their interest in him. Their next quarterback better be mobile.

Every time I read an article in which someone criticizes Eli, I get angrier at John Mara for authorizing this charade, and the way he presided over the destruction of Eli’s career for so long.

“How come we can’t throw the ball for more than 20 yards? How come we don’t attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards?” Beckham said. “Those are questions that we have to figure out. But for now, I would say it’s our heart, it’s our energy. It’s what we bring when we line up before the game, all of that. It counts.”

Bad: OL, playcalling. QB play
