Overwhelmed Giants Lose Halapio

I would not be surprised to learn that the Cowboys had bugged the Giants comms last night and knew everything that was coming, when it was coming. At least, that's what it looked like. I think they'll figure it out. Anyway, Jon Halapio, their starting C broke his ankle and will be out for the season.  That probably means Spence Pulley, who's 25, but was the Chargers' starting C last year, or Evan Brown, a small school gem, who tested out as ELITE will be first up to take his place.  I suppose Greco is also in the mix, but who'd back up the G's if they made him the C.  And meanwhile if Pulley or Brown click, that's one less thing we we have to wonder about.

It’s amazing (and kind of pathetic) how long they have allowed one position group to destroy this team. The continued risk was why I was against drafting Barkley.

But let’s leave Barkley aside, as we said during the draft it was tough to understand why they only took one offensive lineman, and the other thing is giving Stewart money that could’ve been used to sign an offensive lineman.

I think they probably realized that the draft wouldn't lay out for another OL starter past Will H. And maybe they thought Flowers would succeed on the right side. In any even it was always a 2 year fix. It'll be great it Pulley or Brown can establish himself. and just leave us searching for a G and T.

The other issue is that Eli’s salary limits what they can do. That’s why it’s going to be very tough to bring him back next year while still having the cap room to upgrade the talent to a championship level. It may mean they find a cheaper, younger more mobile veteran QB as a temporary stopgap.

The New York Giants are signing FB Elijhaa Penny off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, per source. This after FB Shane Smith struggled badly on Sunday night. Penny is 234 pounds and played in 16 games last season

I didn’t hear it, but a lot is being made about a Shurmur interview with Mikey. Some people are comparing him to McAdoo.

I think it’s absurd at this point, but the real issue is both were/have been asked to win with a veteran quarterback without sufficient talent on the OL. I blame the owner.

Based on last night, good thing we didn’t pass on Mayfield.
