The Giants are Slavageable
So, the Giants lost yesterday but it wasn't like they didn't give themselves plenty of chances to win. If Eli hadn't missed OBJ twice in the endzone, that's 14 more points. If Eric Engram didn't have a bunch of drive killing drops, or Shep hadn't had one.... You see. It's salvageable. Eli cannot miss OBJ deep. That's why they get paid so much. Also, the OL, has to play better and create time and space for Eli and Shaquon. After a really bumpy start, especially for Flowers, they played a little better in the second half. Hernandez will continue to impove, and Solder is a much better player than he showed yesterday, The D was fine, even though it was without Olivier Vernon, Josh Mauro and RJ McIntosh. Eli Apple finally looked like a first round stud. And BJ Hill and Lorenzo Carter made plays and looked like possible core. So, the big concerns at this point are - can Eli still hit OBJ deep, and can the OL succeed with Erik Flowers or can they find a replacement?

The other consideration is the quality of opponent. Jacksonville’s defense is really good. That’s a tough ask for a team with so many changes, new coaching and schemes, OBJ hadn’t played in a year, and Saquon, despite his gifts, is still 21 and hadn’t played in several weeks.
Engram really needs to get his head out of his ass. The guy is super talented but he is a waste if he cannot make plays.
Good points.
Yea, tough to gauge if the OL is that bad, if Jags def is that good or a combo of both.
All in all, Eli needs to be better, not just with the deep passes to Odell but in accuracy. Odell, Saquon, Engram & Shep are forced to make acrobatic catches because Eli throws it behind them when they are running full speed. Or they have to wait and try and come back to the ball, it's bad.
If Eli can just hit them in stride, they will break some long plays, ala Tyreek Hill yesterdya.

As for Eli, yes he missed some throws (although the receivers not named OBJ could help him out), but I suspect because he has had 5 years of playing behind a bad to terrible OL, he speeds up his progressions and that affects his accuracy.
I would have cut Flowers one minute after the game...Enough is enough...
I wouldn’t cut him. If they think Wheeler can be better, start him, or sign one of the tackles waived in recent days, but the time to cut him was in the off-season because now if they do cut him and someone else gets hurt they are worse off
Obviously they could’ve cut him at the end of training camp, but the fact that they didn’t suggests that rightly or wrongly they think he could be coached up to some degree or he’s the best option.

is projecting that the Giants will get a 4th round compensatory pick next year thanks to the Justin Pugh transaction. That's huge considering the Giants don't have a 3rd (due to spending it on Sam Beal int he supplemental draft).
Giants have signed former Lions OT Brian Mihalik to the practice squad. Someone to watch.
