Tyler Austin Sent Down

After tonight's game, Tyler Austin was sent down.  This will give him a chance to play every day and get his offense back together.  Healthy and playing regularly, he will take walks and get hits, as well as homer. He just couldn't get reheated. And Boone had a weird habit of sitting him after his two homer games.  Anyway, this move seems to be for Drury, and Drury has been red hot.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Toe go back down for Frazier if the middle of the order stays quiet much longer.  Walker or Drury can play a game a second if Didi ever needs a break and Gleyber plays SS.

Isn’t this for the pitcher whose name I’m not even going to try to spell and I’m too tired to look up?

As Boone volunteered, the Yankees’ trade-deadline goal remains turning German back into a long reliever or a starter for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.

I am really interested to see how Loaisiga does tonight.

21st Century Fox – The New York Yankees are considering buying back Fox's stake in the YES network if Fox completes a planned asset sale to either Walt Disney or Comcast, according to a Bloomberg report. Fox now owns 80 percent, but an agreement between the parties gives the Yankees the right to buy the stake back if Fox puts it up for sale.

Taking strikes is one thing. Taking pitches out of the zone that are called strike is another. No hitter in baseball has had more pitches outside the zone called strikes than Judge this year. The list:

Aaron Judge: 55
Paul Goldschmidt: 53
Justin Bour: 52
Jose Ramirez: 46
Alex Bregman: 45

It's absurd. German is getting really close to locking up one of the rotation spots. Swing and miss like his is rare.

Their financial “advantage” and myopic win-now attitude ultimately puts a limit on their ceiling. We are lucky their young players have, for the most part, adjusted quickly.

If they had drafted Hicks, he would have run out of chances a long time ago. Now every argument in defense of continuing to start him rests on defensive metrics which are suspect anyway.

Also, how does it increase their leverage for Boone to talk about it publicly?

#Brewers acquire RHP Chad Whitmer from #Yankees for international signing bonus pool money.

I suspect this is for 2018 pool but could be wrong. Looks like Yanks are getting the RHP 16 year old from Cuba that already sits 95-96..

Disappointing ABs from Sanchez and Hicks after Bird’s double.

The difference between Judge and other middle of the order hitters is plate coverage.

Cashman: Torres isn’t going anywhere

That this is a topic is a sad commentary about NY sports.

Where do they keep finding these guys with swing-and-miss stuff? Maybe they really don’t need to trade for a starter.

The lack of offense is gonna catch up to the team at some point, so to offset it, free Clint Frazier.

No plate coverage until that by Sanchez.

They don’t. But they will. Some DNA self-justification bullshit.

Perhaps I should wait the full nine innings before commenting on offense.

Here’s the deal: NYC isn’t for everyone. I’m convinced that’s the issue with Gray. The guy tonight didn’t seem fazed by it. German hasn’t seemed fazed. Montgomery never did. The guys they call up don’t seem fazed. What makes this team think they’ll get the same mindset from an outside player? That’s something you have to consider, because everything I’ve read from people say the Yankees are excellent at coaching their minor-league pitchers.

For all his faults, former Knick President Dave Checketts was able to articulate the unique culture that can only be created by players that came through the development process and how they were better able to withstand pressure.

The Yankees traded right-handed pitcher Chad Whitmer to the Brewers, in exchange for international signing bonus pool money. Whitmer had been selected in the 10th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.
