Rain Out Yankees

Today's Yankee game, like so many others, has been rained out. Kind of a drag considerinng we needed this game and tomorrow's double header to kill time between now and the start of the MLB draft tomorrow night.  In the past couple of years the Yanks system has produced, Bird, Severino, Sanchez, Austin, Judge, Montgomery, Andujar and Torres.  That's insane.  Not just above average MLB guys, but future all-stars and Hall of Famers.

When people praise Yankee development these days, they also have to praise the Yankee Amateur Scouts.  Remember they were in on Torres when he originally signed with the Cubs.  On both the domestic and international sides Yankee scouts are finding impact arms and bats at a rate not seen since the mid 20th Century.

Speaking of which, the DSL started yesterday, and in his first league game Ronny Rojas, the late birthday kid we signed last Summer had a single, double, homer, SB, CS and a K.  Nice debut.  And it really is ongoing.  And they've done this picking no higher that 16th in any draft in forever.

So tomorrow, expect them to be looking for impact players and pitchers in all 40 rounds of the draft.  Lots of power and walks on one side, and lots of power and swing and miss stuff on the other. Here we go again.

UPDATE: Clint Frazier was originally listed for the RailRiders today, but has been scratched for Mark Payton. Could that mean he's the 26th man tomorrow?

I think it's an audition for the Yanks if they want to swap out Tyler Austin since Walker can cover first. Tyler's been pressing, and gotten the note that he needs to relax and not buy the carrying tool "power" that people isolated in the offseason. He's a much better all around hitter than he's shown, So they might let him figure it out in AAA.
