Miguel Gets 4 Hits as Yanks Finally Win a Series

On Gleyber Torres big day, Miguel Andujar continued his coming out party going 4-4 with two RBI doubles.  Torres was 0-4 with, but, and I think importantly, started a double play.  When the Yanks are great they create more DP's on D than expected.  With guys like Castro or Sori playing second that doesn't happen.  With guys like Cano and Randolph it did.  Good sign for Gleyber.

Severino is an ACE, and after starting out hot, then losing it for an inning or two, he finished strong giving the Yanks seven innings of one run ball. His ERA is down to 2.32 after blowing up in the Ice Storm in Boston.  Stanton had another tough day, but made two big plays in left.  Huge win and finally a series win,

Here's a quick glance at everyone's OBP that played today sans Torres:
Hick .421
Judge .462
Gregorious .442
Stanton .283 (he's walking so this will go up as his BA does)
Sanchez .222 (will also go up with his BA, albeit probably not to the degree Stanton's will)
Austin .375
Andujar .327 (walking isn't his game yet)
Romine .370

Also, Gardner isn't hitting for power but his OBP is currently .364.

It's what you want.

They are talking about grinding again, which they didn't do throughout the Girardi era.

3B is Andujar's to lose now it seems.

Just need Bird back when he is 100% healthy in mid-May and this IF is set for years to come.

No Machado.

Their issue is starting pitching and will likely continue to be. They don’t need more offense.

The only offensive issue is maybe to focus more on contact with RISP.

I'm telling you, we won't really know this team until the weather warms up..

Let’s say it is the weather with Gray. How does he ever pitch well in October?

Just pitch him in Munute Maid park in the ALCS.... he will be fine.

Or trade him there.

So, Patrick Corbin kinda sorta indicated he’d love to play for the Yankees. I don’t know much about him, but he’s a free agent after this year. Is he someone the Yankees should target?

.@MAndujarPapa's 12 extra-base hits (9 doubles, 1 triple, 2HR) are the second-most by a Yankee through his first 18 career games, trailing only Joe DiMaggio (14XBH).

Most pitchers don't get their best velocity till about Mid-May. In ST and April. they are still loosening up. By the time October comes they have been pitching for months and have all their stuff, also, they get a shot of adrenalin for the post season. Right now all our pitchers are in a building phase and the weather was awful. I think there's still upside with the staff as a result.

It’s possible but I suspect more is going on with Gray.

Grinding tonight.

Gray is coming off of historically unique bad starts. He's better than that. We will see.

ANDUJAR!
