Yanks Call Up Gleyber Torres
Whatever the timing, the Yanks have called up Glyeber Torres, and the hope here is that he play 2B. Andujar is getting red hot at third, and neither Tyler Wade nor Walker have hit a lick. Would probably best to waive Walker, but I suspect they'll send down Tyler Wade. Two other objects on the horizon are Brandon Drury's return and the suspension of Tyler Austin. Tyler's absence might give Andujar a chance at first if they are dead set on giving Drury a chance to win his spot back. Anyway, this is all just logistics, the Yanks are calling up their best prospect and he's gonna play.
He actually should have made the team out of ST last year, but they were playing service time games. Then he lost three or four hundred AB's do to his TJS injury playing the infield. Anyway, Gleyber gives them another lethal right handed bat to go along with the collection. Not sure what his power ceiling is, because it was really coming on when he went down last year. He thrashed the AFL as a 19 or 20 year old after the trade that brought him to the Yanks.
This is fun, and it could be huge.

Drury should not be given any deference. He should be a super utility guy.
So should Wade once everyone is back or part of a trade.
Wade will be sent down and let him play all over in AAA to be a super utility type.
Andujar needs to hit AND field the ball to keep Drury on the bench.
He's been better than Drury..
Andujar needs to hit. The fielding will improve with time. They need to show patience in that regard.
Does Drury hit and field consistently? Not really otherwise he wouldn’t have been traded.
If you want youth to succeed you have to live with often uneven development at the ML level.
Drury is not an established player coming back.
Why go public?

Gary Sanchez is more interested in hitting than catching, according to former Yankees hitting coach Alan Cockrell, who wasn’t retained after last season, his second with the club.
“Gary is just not a real high-energy guy, and the catching position is basically the heartbeat of the baseball field and you want an energetic guy,’’ Cockrell said on a Nashville, Tenn., radio station. “Gary is more concerned about what he is going to do at the plate and his energy lacks a little bit.”
Now we know why Cockrell's gone as well as Girardi. Remember, before the Giants, Knicks and Rangers did, Cash made a huge point about finding coaches who could communicate with today's players. I know Gary was unhappy with Girardi't coaching, and maybe he didn't dig Cockrell. Also, this smacks of the kind of crap people used to deal Cano, who was so lazy he turned himself into a Hall of Famer. Gary's made a ton of progress with his catching and that's taken energy.
Torres is batting 8th in a lineup that features 7 home grown Yankees.
Jack Curry: Yankee summoned Torres to be an impactful player. He's not going to receive a couple of days off a week or bounce around the infield. He's the second baseman for the next 140-plus games and beyond.
So the position to watch is third base. Every other one seems to be stable, although first base could be more open moving forward than some of us would like.
Bird will be back in mid-May. We have to get Tyler Austin some reps in the corner OF spots. He and Bird both need to play.
Romine has picked a good time for his out of context hot streak.
Sevy cruised through the first two, and now he's battling it a bit.
We give up too many homers.
4 hits for Andujar
Replay needs to be fixed
