Giants Announce Shurmur
So the waiting is over and Pat Shurmur is the 18th Head Coach of the New York Giants. He was rumored to already have a staff ready to go with him should he find a gig like this. Now let's see who it is. All the jobs are important and new blood would be welcome in any of them after 3-13. I'm sure there'll be a press conference this week, too, but a winter storm over Minnesota may delay it a bit. I wonder if he'll be heading down to Mobile for the Senior Bowl.
We wish him the best, and let's see who he hires.

Supposedly he's going to be calling the plays. I don't know how I feel about that.
Remember in 2002 when Fassel took over calling the plays and the offense took off? Shurmur is an elite play caller, as well as desiginer and QB Whisperer. He's sort of an updates JF, but with an earlier HC break and on his second job. I think he's in a better position because he's not being asked to whisper to Dave Brown, Danny Kannel or Kent Graham - not even Kerry Collins if they make the right pick.
I guess we’ll see. Looks like James Bettcher from AZ is going to be our def coordinator, not BlackJack Del Rio as previously mentioned.
I really like that hire, glad we can scoop him up since he was just let go.
