Yanks FINALLY Win

Masahiro Tanaka laid the smack down and pitched like a true ace as he threw 7 innings of 4 hit, 7K shutout ball against Toronto, thereby salvaging the final game of a disastrous 4 game HOME series with the Jays.

Dustin Ackley, whose versatility could prove useful, and is something they've been looking for, plaid for Bird and homered. This was absurd, considering that the Yanks made Refsdnyder DH in AAA for part of August so that Ackley could play second.  If anyone needs to be replaced if the goal is winning it's Drew and his 18% below average O at second.  We've now entered the phase where Girardi is screwing with Bird.   Too bad the AAA season is over so he can't send him down.

This game will teach the fool all the wrong lessons

Bird has faced a knuckleballer once in his entire baseball career. Ackley has had success against them, albeit a SSS. I don't have any issue with this move.

Either way, get Drew/Ryan out of the lineup however possible.

We said Ackley should have played just not at 1B. Ellsbury has been beyond awful, and Drew, well, no point typing anything. So he could have played LF or 2B. But Joey sits rookies and caters to shitty veterans.

Billy, I have not problem with Ackley playing yesterday, but wanted him at second instead of first.

I agree with Phil and Lawyer. Ellsbury hasn't done much of anything lately, so sit him. Now is not the time to baby a rookie who has offensive upside.

Also, how prestigious is Masahiro Tanaka? Big start for him.

For all his lack of baseball knowledge, it is good to see Madden advancing the meme that Girardi is feeling the pressure and blundered in Saturday's games, if only because it more than counterbalances this notion that playing Ackley was "genius."

Madden, despite being older, still has some influence.

The best thing to come out of this season is to get Girardi out of here.

He will kill the transition to youth that Hal supposedly wants because he won't have the patience to endure growing pains, just as he couldn't wait to sit Bird, even if it meant playing a 40 year old who didn't want to play there and who is GM didn't want to play there.

Going public with that showed what a complete fucktard he is.

The idea that he is playing the guys who brought them there...Drew didn't bring the anywhere, and ignoring that Ellsbury is a non-contributor now is the height of stubborn stupidity.

So Ackley did well yesterday but he can't start over Drew.

@BryanHoch: Joe Girardi on why he hasn't played Rob Refsnyder: "He spent the whole year in Triple-A. He doesn't know the pitching staffs up here."

Missed that quote earlier. LOL.

Ryan can know every pitcher in MLB history better than anyone in MLB history and he would still suck

Slade Heathcott, who doesn't know the pitching staffs up there in the big leagues, just bailed this team out.

Go Slade. Really wish he could stay healthy, because he'd be an everyday starter.

That's if Girardi cares more about winning than veteran feelings
