Dermis Day!

Dermis Garcia is batting 5th and playing third today for the GCL Yankees2.  This could be the start of something big.   In the opinion of the Yanks and some other teams and services Dermis was the #1 prospect in IFA last year.  He's drawn comparisons to Sano and ARod.   So, this really could be the start of something big.   Btw, Nelson Gomez and a few others from that big class of IFA's are already starting to rake.

"One of the big problems these days is that great hitters, who can also field, don't often become free agents anymore. And the Mets can't hire DH's."

1) That's why trading Sanchez is madness;
2) The Mets do have surplus pitching to trade.

Yeah, but there are also few big hitters period, and they're hard to acquire even in trades. What's more, not many hitters are going to want to sign up for that ballpark.

Glad to see Dermis starting. Hope he rakes at every level. Wish he weren't so far away from MLB.

1-2 with a two run single so far.

Dermis is now 2-3.

Would the Mets want Beltran or Headley?

More seriously, that rotation could give them a chance to win for a while. If ownership would spend even close to what Hal spends, they could either get a hitter in a trade by taking back salary, or sign some FA.

More important to us, the Yankees have no impact young hitters on the roster. They don't know which of the young ones, if ever given a chance, will step up. Only a fool would trade one now.

Joey has some tough decisions in lineup construction tonight:

v. Hughes

Ryan (9 AB).222 .364 .333 .697

Drew (5 AB) .200 .200 .400 .600

I'd rather have a robot.

Joey is going with Drew. An inspired choice!

I read on NYYFans that Torre overturned Refsnyder's error and assigned it to Miller. Girardi appealed to make it happen, supposedly, so credit where it's due.

Sano should be a Yankee.

Bunch of Atem balls so far, but we're hitting him hard. Pineda just has to hold them.

Pineda sucks tonight.

So has Severino down at AAA.

Pineda is making this a habit

I blame all of the time off due to injury. He's having his growing pains this season.

That's why he can't command slider regularly ?

Something's up with the inconsisten slider. They should have Gator or Sparky talk to him.

They haven't grinded tonight and McCann struck himself out diving for a low and away pitch.

A loss with Drew getting 2 hits. That is as bad as it gets.

Feel bad for Capuano, but he really doesn't bring a lot to the team.

At 10:43 AM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

So Mike, what are you referring to about the Capster?

Interesting, if the headlines are accurate, that the Yankees gave negative credit to Hughes. Usually teams say nothing.

As in I feel bad for him because I'm sure he wants to do well. He just isn't very good, and he's long past due to be cut.

Oh I thought he was
