Doesn't matter what the scouts do, or what the new fangled development team or analytics department do. The big club still doesn't know what it is doing anymore.
This really does warrant some kind of explanation?
Remember when I said it took injury or lack of remaining options before kids got a real shot? That's proven true with Heathcott, Flores and Williams, who only came up because of Ellsbury going down. At this point, it will take Drew getting hurt for Refsnyder to get a fair shot.
@JackCurryYES: With the trade deadline on July 31, Cashman added, "Ref will be back. I just want to keep all options at my disposal through the deadline."
Obviously, this is all speculation on my part, but I don't think Hal or Levine care if Drew or especially Ryan are DFA'd.
And with the Ryan, I never understood the reason for the multi-year contract. He was never good enough at that point to replace even a badly declining Jeter.
It always seemed like an Eppler type of move, which I view as illusory value moves.
So again, imo, whether it's Girardi or Eppler, I think Cashman loves these guys, and they, along with him, are the reason why they can't max out (even post recent CBAs) still abundant advantages relative to the rest of MLB.
If they think Zobrist puts them over the top, they are on dangerously potent hallucinogens.
The only move that MIGHT put them over the top is to call up Severino and have him develop fast.
I also think Refs could contribute on that end, but they can't have him thinking that any mistake or short slump will lead to a demotion.
They can say what they want, but if he had one more 2-4 game, he would be sticking now.

Welp, if allowing Refnsyder to get confidence was in the cards at one point, they failed miserably.
LINJ was pretty much right about everything. As I said before, there really is no bottom to how badly this team is run.
They never even gave this kid a chance yet Drew lives on somehow.
Drew must have increminating pics of Cashman and Girardi.
Now we have to see Drew again on this team. Ugh

Here's Cashman:

How the hell is Brendan Ryan still on the team?
This is the same team that put Warren in the bullpen. As stupid as this debacle is, it's not exactly surprising.
This is why I think they're incompetent fools
This is why your are probably right.
I don't want to be right !!!
This is why I've turned my attention to the minors and the system over the past few years. The big club is just too annoying.
"LINJ-right." It's got a nice ring to it.
Geez this is depressing...
Trenton is winning and they're pretty much down to org guys.

If Refsnyder goes as part of a deal to land Zobrist, then things are worse off than we feared. (Which means it's likely to happen.)
