Yankee Development Stuff

During this past offseason, the Yanks continued refocusing on their player development department.   They split Mark Newman's old responsibilities, seeminglyl handing the title of Farm Head over to Gary Denbo, their long time hitting guru, minor league manager and helper of Jeter.    They also changed a lot of the managers and coaches among their minor league affiliates, bringing in new guys, while promoting and demoting other guys.

It's only been about half of a minor league season, and they have once again been pummeled by injuries to some of their premier pitching prospects as well as some rejuvenated outfielf prospects.   So we don't have a lot of data yet on what changes, if any, have been wrought.

Having said, that guys don't seem to be stalling out at AA for the first time in years, and, coincidentally or not, they have an all new coaching staff in Trenton.    Just another situation to keep an eye on as we wait out the deadline, and wonder when Rookie Davis and Cale Coshow will hit AA.

The proof would be ongoing ML success with the Yankees. Cashman has gotten forever to do that, and well over a decade later it remains undone.

All the OF's brought in this year were good till they got hurt.

The test now is Refsnyder. Is he shown the same patience as Didi has been given — or heck, Drew for that matter? And if Girardi is as uncomfortable with rookies as he reportedly is, is it time to be on the market for a new manager?

They were good over a SSS, but it was almost a certainty that they would struggle at some point and test management's commitment and patience, something not shown to almost every non-reliever who somehow got a sniff over the last 10-15 years.

And Mike is right. Let's see them show Didi-like patience to Refs.

Gardner, Cano, Robertson and Melky are all millionaires from the system in the last 10 years. Phil Hughes and several other pitchers from the last ten years are still around.

I want to see them show patience with Refs, like they did with Cano. We'll see if they do.

I love the quick movement if the player is doing well. Mateo was aggressive but should now be in Trenton and Wade should be at second or Trenton.Adams also could be ready to move again.

IMO, a successful record requires that the player establishes a high level of success for the team that drafted the player. That only applies to Cano and Gardner with regard to position platers and starting pitchers. Over a 10+ year period, that is awful.

btw, Gardner isn't young and they have lot of OF coming. It would make sense to gauge the trade market for Gardner over the next calendar year.
