Yanks Win

The Yanks now have the third piece of their winning formula back.  That's their killer table setters, Ellsbury and Gardy batting 1-2.   Gardy homered today, just minutes before he was deservedly named to the all-star game as an injury replacement.   But the big story today was Tanaka, who had some bad luck in the 2nd and gave up 2 runs, but was otherwise terrific through 6.2 innings.  Huge win.   Now they hit the road for Boston, then the all-star break.

Can't remember the last time the Yankees played Boston in July.

So, I was thinking, Sherman said Sanchez would be one of the ones moved to SWB when he published his article a few weeks back. If that happens, it'll be Sanchez, Bird, Judge, Refsnyder and Severino in AAA. When you factor in the injuries to Heathcott, Williams and Lindgren (and the fact that they likely wouldn't have a spot on the big league roster if and when they returned), that's a ton of potential talent just one level down from NYC. And let's not forget Mitchell could be a starter down the road for the Yankees.

If they play their cards right, this could be very helpful to the club's long-term health.

114 pitches for Tanaka was reckless

Sanchez is hotter than he's been since the first time he got hurt a few years ago.

Yankee fans have been too quick to give up on him. He's still only 22.

It only matters what management does and their track record with giving their position playing prospects an extended opportunity is awful.

And I worry about their annual trade for a starter.

That used to de defensible on some level.

With two high end starting pitching prospects ready, a trade would be ridiculous.

I agree, but at some point, there is going to be a day of reckoning where they'll have no choice but to give these young guys an actual chance rather then demanding they light the world on fire right away.
