Yankees 2015 Draft, Pt.1

The Yanks have a huge week ahead of them.   Starting tomorrow night, they'll start picking 41 new players,  30 or so of whom they will probably sign.   Because their extra first, the Yanks have one of the bigger draft pools this year, so they will probably go after a few more signability kids than they did last year.

But remember, for this draft to be successful, they really only need to hit on one guy.   And that's because; whoever the guy is, the savings  he creates from his 6 seasons of salary contol will more than offset the costs for his entire draft class.

That said, the Yanks have been doing better that 1 for the draft recently and that streak should continue this week,

For various reasons, they really need this draft to succeed.  With good scouts and 4 top 100 picks it could even turn out to be a great draft.

I just want TALENT. Don't care if it's college or prep.

Jeez back to back errors with CC already shaky.

Is Betances the only non-college prospect who made the team and stuck? And he took forever to get to NY.

CC is the worst starter. He'll have some good starts too, but he really shouldn't be in the rotation.

Like I've said before, make him the long reliever if Nova shows us anything.

Jeter didn't go to college. Hughes didn't go to college. None of the IFA's went to college and many entered the organization at 16.

Jeter was a really long time ago, and Hughes is not a success story.

Chris Young hitting a HR is not good beyond this game.

The IFAs have yield a ton of success either.

So the issue is probably who runs the organization, not where they come from, although I like college players because some of the talent sorting process has already been done.

College players have lower ceilings.

But higher floors.

If they were run as well as the Cardinals, I would be fine with it. But they have been developmentally challenged, so I prefer hedging.

Also, the Yanks have had some terrible health luck with college bats and arms.

They've changed the development system completely over the last two years. We don't have the results yet and we cannot assume the problems have not been addressed. BPA.

CC is turning into a pumpkin.

Yeah, with the resurgence of Heathcott and Williams, I'm liking what we've seen from the new developmental guys so far.

Joe, CC doesn't HAVE to throw 100 pitches no matter what.

At 11:42 AM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

The Yankees should suspend Joe if CC begins the seventh.

At 11:47 AM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

Well, this idiot above me didn't realize Joe and CC both got ejected, LOL.

I'm with Phil -- Let's go for talent. You can always trade talent for other talent if you're overstocked in some positions and thin in others.
