If he's not mentally cut out for NYC, then no point in trying to prolong the inevitable. (Supposedly that was the issue with Melancon, who's done well everywhere but New York and Boston) Blame Cashman for trading a young lefty starter with upside in the first place, but this was the right move. At some point, I think they have to give guys like Danny Burawa and Jose Ramirez a real shot in order to hopefully get some good righty weapons in the pen.
Ryan is fine as a backup utility infielder, but having him, Drew and Gregorius all on the same roster is redundant.
Tanaka is why you spend big on blue-chip international talent. But I know, I know, a blue-chip Cuban doesn't offer the same MARKETING!!! opportunities that a Japanese star does, so I realize this is falling on deaf ears.
In his defense, he didn't have a ton of options after last night, and he gave Capuano a quick hook after the Ms got a base hit. But Betances was unavailable after pitching two straight days, one of which was with a five-run lead. So Girardi did it to himself.
The sooner the likes of Capuano and Rogers are off the roster, the better.
Didi seems to be getting hot, and then there is this: @YankeeSource: Masahiro Tanaka maxed out at 95.8 MPH. So some positives heading into tomorrow's break.
Oh yeah, and way to go Miller for getting it together and getting five outs.
No clue what Cano's problem is, but I'm glad the team walked away from him when the 10-year deal got on the table. Really wish they had some kind of contingency plan, though.

I suspect he simply wasn't cut out for N.Y. A shame, but at least Shreve is working out so far.
Next to go should be Rogers or Capuano.
Don't overpay for non-closers again. That's it.
I would have DFA'd Rogers.
It's nauseating how Girardi talks bout Drew even though he is a roster-spot-sucking fiend.
Drew, Rogers and Capuano are all wastes of a roster spot.
Ryan will be too.
I think they had too much invested in Carpenter to cut bait this fast.

Cashman is what he is, but I digress...
They only have BUIs.
Dear Hal and co.,

Seriously, what did Girardi think he would get when he brought in Capuano? Thank goodness Miller found himself.
He brought in Cap u? Are you kidding?
What a fucking idiot.

Lindgren...
Not veteran-y enough for Girardi.
Again, I have serious reservations that any real youth movement can happen under him, as much as I like Girardi as a person.
McCann is nursing a foot injury. I would DL him and call up Romine and see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.
Well, I don't really know what he's like as a person, but I do know that he comes wrapped in a thick coat of telfon, similar to the GM.

In support of my earlier point about Grego:
He has 2 hits in 3 of his last 4 games, and has at least 1 hit in all but 1 of his last 6 games.
And this moment in time, his OBP is actually higher than Cano's. :D !!!
No clue what Cano's problem is, but I'm glad the team walked away from him when the 10-year deal got on the table. Really wish they had some kind of contingency plan, though.
True, I just wish they would have also walked away from Ellsbury, McCann, Beltran, Headley...
