Yanks: Luis Severino to Make His AAA Debut

Today could be a pretty big one in the Yankee season.  Luis Severino is making his AAA debut, and if he can hit the ground running, we could see him in the Bronx sooner than later.  He's made mincemeat of the minors so far so let's hope for the best.  Because of flameouts and injuries to Hensley and others, there are virtually no power starters behind him.  Rookie Davis is off to an encouraging start, and Bryan Mitchell who's already in AAA and doing well, and that's about it.

94, 96, 95--K's the first batter on three pitches. He climbed the ladder.

Picks off the baserunner for the third out -- had the last guy 0-2 when he picked off the other guy.

Looks like 4.1 Innings, 2 runs, 3BB, 3 K's 91 Net Pitches ....score tied 2-2

Grego misses a lot of balls that he seems to be able to field.

Another good start by Warren

I would DFA Rogers to make room for Tanaka and put Capuano in the pen.

Not sure why Gardner thought he'd have a better chance on that throw.

Add Rogers to the list of "what were they thinking" moves for the offseason.

The long ago "Free Tyler Clippard" campaign should be proud.

Heh. Wish this team wasn't so disfunctional. It would be at least 3-4 games ahead in the standings.

They have beaten really good teams and lost a lot to bad ones. Some of that is being a pack team in a time of parity, but if they are as patient with young players as they have been with the Drew types, they can eventually be more than a pack team.

OPS/OPS+
Player A: .659 / 86
Player B: .526 / 46

Player A is Roberts last year. Player B is Drew this year.

Tell me again why Pirela isn't playing every single day. They need to find out what he is ASAP.

• Jose Pirela had a hit. “He swung the bat pretty good again today,” Girardi said. “He lined out, he had a base hit. I’m happy with what he’s done the last two days, we’ll continue to evaluate it every day, and go from there.”

"They need to find out what he is ASAP."

This is my feeling as well. Pirela may be nothing more than a replacement-level player, but we KNOW what Drew is at this point. No sense in continuing to run him out there.

Chad Jennings has an interesting discussion of who should go for Tanaka.

What fucking idiots:

Brett Gardner CF

Chase Headley 3B

Alex Rodriguez DH

Mark Teixeira 1B

Brian McCann C

Carlos Beltran RF

Didi Gregorius SS

Stephen Drew 2B

Ramon Flores LF

RHP Michael Pineda

I mean this is Stephen Drew. He has sucked for well over a season. This isn't a declining Yankee star who is now terrible but has done great things for the franchise.

This is a nobody.

Would they please get out of their own way?

In all fairness with Hernandez on the mound, you need to have as many LH batters in the lineup.

Pirela would be overmatched IMO.

Flores is an exciting player and should play everyday (unless there is a dominant LHP on the mound)

If this game is the exception I would understand, but playing Drew has been the rule.

Reverse mojo, Drew will go 4-4... ;)

Capu to the pen, so yay.

Good to see Flores get a hit off of Hernandez

Drew getting meaningless hits is very bad.

Grego made a play that Jeter couldn't have made at 20, but the throw, although not terrible, was wide.

Did can play short. His range is something else. But what is with his throwing these days. You would almost think the American League has different shaped infields than the National League?????
