Yanks Nearly Blow One
Yanks weren't quite able to use their regular formula tonight. Though they got a Tex Message, two Jacks from Drew, four hits from ARod, and a strong first 5 innings from Eovaldi, the 6th and ninth innings were nightmares they barely escaped from.
Eovaldi fell apart in the 6th and left with the bases loaded. Chasen Shreve came in and saved the day. Lindgren pitched a 2 1BB scoreless frame, and the Esmil Rogers came in for the 9th -- with an 8-1 lead -- and couldn't get anyone out. Betances wasn't sharp, and before it was over it was 8-7. Rogers really has to go. Don't be surprised if he's DFA'd. They'll probably make a move before the next game, because of Eovaldi's shortish start.

I realize Betances was gonna give up a run eventually, but it pisses me off to no end that they had to use him tonight.
Rogers, Capuano and Drew (don't care if he hit two dingers) all need to go.
They gave Rogers a million and a half. Let that sink in.
Carpenter > Rogets
Their misallocation of millions has been unbelievable. They should have thrown them around the draft like they do around the fringes of the roster.
No kidding. There is nothing Rogers or Capuano do that some minor leaguer couldn't do equally as bad for far less -- and that's the floor.
Get Esmil off the team...
I'll hold off on Drew for another week as he is 5 for his last 13 and apparently he has corrected a hole in his swing recently. I still don't like him but it is what it is.
It is impossible to overstate how good A-Rod and Teix have been.
I really want Warren to force them to keep him in the rotation.
I think with players like Rogers, Eppler or whomever falls in love with a skill or a tool, Cashman believes in their judgment, and it takes a ridiculous amount of terrible performance to convince them that the judgment is wrong.
We have to be getting close to that threshold.
I woke up this morning expecting news of Rogers' DFA and some Triple-A right-hander getting called up. How this hasn't happened yet, I have no idea.
If there is a bright side, it is that Betances had a bad outing when it didn't cost a win. The concern is that, after 1/3 of the season, he's pitched in 27 games and Miller has pitched in 25 and those games probably overlap with each other and most of the Yanks' 30 wins.
Why has Lindgen's velo declined?
What was it last night? If you're wondering why he's not 93-95 like at Mississippi State, it might have to do with him pitching more innings.
91?
I thought it had been higher in the minor leagues last season.
