Yanks: Hit-Deki Joins the FO
Too bad all my pics of him are on my old computer. Anyway, Hideki Matsui, one of the great Yanks from a shockingly less than great era (it's about winning, not attendance, schmucks), has rejoined the Yanks as a special advisor to Brian Cashman. This pretty patently must have something to do with the Japanese markets and the free agents and prospects who will be coming out of it.
The Yanks have generally been excellent at finding new markets and expanding their influence in good ones. The only two times they missed were essentially with the African American market when baseball integrated (huge and ghastly historical whiff and shame) and recently with the Cuban market. We'll see how historically damaging that will turn out to be.

The African-American market at least required more courage than the average Caucasian had at the time. The Cuban market is, or should be, shooting fish in a barrel. Instead they prefer to shoot themselves in the foot...repeatedly.
Nice article on Judge in the NYP. They better keep these kids.
A quote from Cashman somewhere else to the effect that once Drew was signed there was no competition at 2B, backing up Francesa's take from his interview.
Lawyer,
I did not remember that Judge was adopted. Many adopted kids have issues with their adopted parents, but it sounds like Judge gets along swell, which means his makeup is OK.
Really hope he makes it, and keeps the Yankees from blowing $200 million on Heywood next season.
