Giants Sign Shane Vereen

Ian Rappaport is reporting that the Giants will sign Shane Vereen.  Without even looking that the deal - assuming this is true - I was hoping the Giants would go for an RB in the RB rich draft that's just around the corner.   In fact, a running back will be easier to find in the draft than a Safety or a Tight End, for starter.  So, it may not be the best use of FA dollars to grab a vet like Vereen.  Especially one who is more steady than explosive.

UPDATE:  It's official.  4 year and 16M are believed to be the terms.  He just turned 26, so that's not hideous.

If it's true that the Giants have made a serious attempt to sign McCourty, McPhee, and Graham, but failed despite offering significant dollars, any thoughts on why? Is the situation just not that appealing?

I honestly don't think it's that. Last year guys were will to sign, and that was before the O took off with OBJ late in the season/

We should be ascendant again.

I don't hate it -- I think we will also see Ron Parker & maybe Dan Williams join the team soon too.

Our pass catching from the backfield was atrocious last year & I think Vereen will see a lot of action on 3rd down.

I doubt it. I think them not having resolved JPP over the weekend miight, though.
