Giants Turn Their Attention to RB's?

The Giants are playing things close to their collective vest -  and well they should.   Some of these other deals being reached could fall apart during their physicals.  Just like O'Brien Schofield's deal with the Giants did last year.  In any event, please realize that the Giants won't announce until something is done - including the physical - and they don't like players, agents or reporters announcing their moves before they do.   And it's not because they're not fun, but because things can fall apart, and sometimes they do.

That said, the latest has been that they are looking at versatile RB's Antone Smith and Roy Helu.   Smith is intriguing and could be a big playmaker - which we need in the running game to keep the triple coverage off of OBJ, and also to punish teams who want to stay in the nickel.   Of course Helu would give fans the chance to shout Hello Helu any time he makes a play.  So they both have stuff going for them.   Frankly, I think this draft will be a great shopping opportunity for RB's, but the Giants must use this period to hit as many needs as they can.  Thus, if the perfect rotational back is here, why wait?

Love the idea of Antone Smith. He is a home run hitter. He had a big play every week it seemed for the first 6 weeks of the season for the Falcons. But then they kind of stopped using him.

Helu has always been productive but never emerged as the starter. I like him a lot as a passcatcher and I still think he could emerge as a starting RB if he gets into the right situation.

Don't worry, the Giants are closer than a 6-10 team to being great again.
