Yanks: Bryan Mitchell
The first game of the Yanks split squad double header is currently in rain delay, but Bryan Mitchell has already pitch 2 innings of 0 run, 1 hit, 2K and 3GB ball. He showed what appeared to be a really good fastball that moved, plus a few different breaking balls-- though it could have been just one inconsistent one. He seemed to either just miss or get squeezed on a fastball or two, but was able to get swings and misses with the fastball and the breaking stuff. If he can build on what he did today from a command standpoint, he will help the Yanks this year. Btw, the gas was easy...
Meanwhile, the Philly booth was carping about their need for a Left Fielder. I wonder what could be built around Brett Gardner.

This is why the GM shouldn't have gone near Capuano.
They aren't god enough anymore to need fungible veterans.
Absolutely. Wasted 10M between Capuano and Drew.
I hope not a package for Lee or Hamels or Utley that includes some of our favorite prospects.
Any info on how Refs is doing? The papers said he made a "bad" error a few days ago and since then I know he's had a couple of hits and shown hustle but haven't heard more about his D.
He's handled three chances and walked so far today.
btw, Drew has looked like crap and had an error on his first chance of the season, too.
Asking Drew to play second when SS is his natural position doesn't make much sense, since the reason you're holding Refs back is supposedly defense.
Refs fights one off to right...
"I hope not a package for Lee or Hamels or Utley that includes some of our favorite prospects."
Let's hope Hal's (somewhat understandable) aversion to spending more precludes that.
To further leverage father time would be lunacy.
Thinking about it some more, I think the only way they do that is if they are still in it at midseason. Sadly, being in it doesn't necessarily mean what realistic fans probably think it should.
If they are though, they may have a tough choice...for them.
For example, let's say Severino appears to be ready (iow, dominating the competition somewhat effortlessly).
Do they promote him or trade him or,, if they think he is one of the few untouchables, other prospects for what they perceive as a need.
There is no way any of us can know that at this point.
But it's not unreasonable to think that implosion is the best thing that can happen to this franchise right now.
Muddling along may promote even more stupidity.
The really smart thing to do, imo, would be to trade any aging veterans they can whenever/if ever a good offer materializes.
Pigs will fly first.
I can't ever imagine pulling for the Yankees to lose. But if it helps them not make dumb moves...
Thanks for the info. Good stuff and hope it keeps up!
RAB advocating that the Yanks look at Hector Olivera. Please NO!!
We already have a bunch of injured old guys.
