This Week on the Blog

So, starting with the Ranger deals on Sunday, this was a pretty eventful week around here.   This week should be even bigger with the opening of NFL Free Agency on Tuesday.  Let's take a look.

Giants: The Giants head into free agency looking to address at least some of their plethora of needs, while hoping they can work something out with JPP and a few of their other FA's.  It will be interesting to see if JPP gets tampered with during this legal period.   So far, the Giants are reportedly after Devin McCourty, and possibly Brooks Reed.  It will be interesting to see which OL or OL's they bring in -- starters or depth?  And it will also be interesting to see if they have to make more cap room to execute their plans.

Rangers:  Rangers are in the midst of a tough road trip.  Hopefullly, with Sheppard onboard the Glass era is over.  On the system side, it will be interesting to see if they do bring Buchnevich over now and who they start to sign as colleges start finishing up.  With their dearth of draft picks, they should remain an appealing place for the undrafteds and unsigneds.

Yanks:  Yanks are still on probation here at the blog.  They should continue giving kids lots of chancs to earn jobs and keep an eye on the IFA market to see if those Cuban pitchers get cleared.   They should stay away from Olivera -- who might be their best player this year -- but might also be another injured old guy.

Knicks:  The Knicks need to keep scouting and also figure out a way to get more picks -- having boxed up that angle of all their deals.  Yeesh!

In all, it's a big week for the NFL and thus, the Giants.  It's a critical week for the Rangers and the points race as they wait to get Hank back.  It's hopfully a week of no pitching injuries for the Yanks.  And it's another week in hell for the Knicks.   I hope you all have great ones.

If Olivera doesn't need TJS i would love if they signed him. 29 and no loss of a pick, comes down to just cash.

He turns 30 on May 5 and has missed a bunch of time with injuries during his 20s.

I thought I read they solved his thrombosis issue. From what I've read, was his problem. Has there been other issues ?

They think he might need Tommy John surgery for a bad UCL.

Darvish may need TJS. Big money for pitchers is crazy risky.
