Yanks: Start Worrying

Just when you thought the farm was safe: an unknown team has claimed Cole Hamels, who cannot block a trade to the Yankees, on waivers.   With both Gardy and Prado as well as their salaries clearing waivers yesterday, you have to wonder if it's the Yanks. and if they will try to fashion a deal around Gardy or Prado and prospects.   I hope it's not the Yanks.

Someone speculated that it's the Cubs. FWIW.

That would be weird, too.

Why would it be the Cubs? I don't think they want to take on that salary.

I wonder if it's the Cards, or, if it's an AL team, someone like the Birds, who do not have the pitching to match-up with Oakland or the Tigers in a playoff series.

They have money and prospects.

I don't think the Phillies understand the concept of salary dumping and thus overvalue things when they are taking a dump.
