Yanks just won a two run game where they got superb pitching. Brandon McCarthy only went 5.2 because they were grinding him, but the run they got was not earned and he K'd 8! That was good enough for the win. Thornton, Warren, Kelley and Robertson shut things down. DRob had a 1-2-3 save K'ing the last two he faced.
The O was once again measly.
But McCarthy has been a revelation with his Kevin Brown imitation. Grounders and K's are a great recipe. Maybe he's this generations Red Ruffing, because he is piling up the wins.

McCarthy has surprised me. He doesn't pitch efficiently but he is effective while he is out there.
Efficiency could come, he's reintroduced a pitch and he's working with a persnickety catcher.
Hard to be efficient when the Tigers hit 38 foul balls! I was a huge fan of the trade at the time and it's great seeing it work out.
It really is working out.
