Yanks: Lindgren to AA
Jacob Lindgren, the Yanks second rounder, but top pick from the June draft has already dominated his way to AA. His K/9 is over 20 and that's how he's done it. He's had to strike out 4 in an inning twice and I'm a little concerned that Gary Sanchez might have trouble catching his slider, too. That said, Lindgren may not be there long. Go Jake!
UPDATE: Nick Rumbelow was promoted to AAA. Lots of movement and there was one other promotion I'm checking on. I think it was Connor Mullee to Charleston, who are currently rained out. Connor's been through a lot and it's great to see him moving up again.

I think Lingren is why they aren't oing to sign Robertson. I hope I'm wrong because it would be really really dumb
I'm hoping Lindgren is a lefty two innings a pop ace reliever. I don;t think he has anything to do with DRob.
Well, money has everything to do with the Robertson, but unless they are going to take the budget to new heights, given their pre-existing commitments and multiple roster holes, they are going to look to save money somewhere, and the bullpen is a logical place. So really, Lindgren replaces Betances who replaces Robertson. We can't dismiss that, it could happen.
Maybe Mike is right, maybe the Prado trade shows that they are going to bust the budget. It better. Otherwise it makes no sense
Well, they don;t have to pay Jeter anymore after this year. And we'll see what else happens.
I'm not sure taking on Prado's contract makes sense unless they're planning on him starting at third next year.
The Yankees have a little more than $170 million in payroll obligations next year. Factoring in the inevitable run at Lester, I agree with LINJ that they are probably looking to cut costs in the 'pen. Otherwise, I imagine they'd have worked out a deal with Robertson by now.
I think Lester would be far more likely to want to sign with the Yanks if they did have Robertson, unless he's only interested in $$$. No knock on Betances -- he's been super -- but what he's accomplished so far doesn't necessarily translate to becoming a closer. Also, at least Girardi has been trying to protect Betances, so he might still be a bit fragile given his history of injuries, and you don't want to have significant limits on your closer's availability.
That said, I don't understand why they didn't sign Robertson long ago.
Looking at next year, add A-Rod's $20m+, then if they want to keep Headley and Drew, add about $20m, then add Robertdon at $12m, and let's say Lester at $20m.
Then subtract Jeter and Ich and call it $20m.
Along with some other stuff like arbitration, you're talking about adding about $52m.
I'm not sure they;re going to have to pay ARod or CC next year.
I have to see that first.
That's part of the problem though.
So let's say it's true (I am assuming you mean some breach of contract by A-Rod and insurance for a physically unable to perform CC), they almost certainly aren't going to know that during the offseason, so they have to plan as if they will be paying them.
I don;t think they trade for Prado without knowing more than we do about the ARod situation.
We differ on how well they allocate money.
I admit they're stupid about it, but it doesn't stop them from knowing what's coming off before we do. Nor has it ever stopped them from making lots of it. I don't think ARod is playing for the Yanks again. And getting Prado made me a little more confident of that.
But Prado is a bad fit for 3B because he has no power and they badly need power.
Also, it was reported that Ackley was their first choice, who at least may be on the way up in his career.
This strikes me as another example of a one year plan.
Prado is an incremental upgrade right now and they (Hal/Levine) cannot stomach the idea of not making the playoffs two years in a row.
I think Headley is in the plans for 2015, and so is Refsnyder. Prado is the RF or the super utility guy, like Nunez/Solarte/Wheeler.
I agree with Phil that A-Rod has played his last game in NY. I can't see the Yankees banking on him after he has basically missed 2 seasons.
