MZA Signs

Today, the Rangers avoided going to arbitration with Mats Zuccarello by signing him to a one year contract worth 1.15M.    Earlier in the process his agent thought they were close to a three year deal, but this is what got done.    It will be interesting to see what the Rangers can do now to get Derek Stepan signed to a long contract like McD's.  They'll probably have to make a trade.

I hope there is enough for Stephan. I have read that the amount of money left on the cap (in-season cap, not pre-season) is in the neighborhood of $2.8 million. Hope Steph takes it.

He's not taking 2.8. They're gonna have to make a trade to clear some cap room. Also, to clear up the 4th line. They have about 8 4th liners...

I agree that they need to make a move or 2. Hope it isn't just a salary dump, but a trade of 3 for 1, or something like that.
