Soriano On The Way?

Overnight, rumors of an Alfonso Soriano return to the Yanks have been hot and heavy.   There have been rumors like this for years, but this time all the twitter news sources are reporting it.   Of course, the devil will be in the details, and with the Cobs necessarily picking up a lot of the money, we may lose some prospects, while we get even older with Sori.    The papers and much of the media has no sense whatsoever of prospect value, so if they're saying mid-level we should probably be concerned till we see the actual bill.  I really didn't want to add anything.

I believe the Yankees will structure the "money" portion of the deal in a way similar to the Wells agreement, where the entire 2014 salary is paid by the selling club, in this case the Cubbies.

So the effect on the 2014 payroll will be $0.00.

I think the prospect cost will not be an unknown, because the Cubbies are picking up so much salary. Expect someone from AA, in the Zach Nuding, Shane Green or Tommy Kahnle area. Not a sure-fire prospect, but a step below.
