Giants Open Camp!
The Giants opened their annual training camp and though Day One was nice and uneventful. Before the first practice an unusually animated Jerry Reese spoke to the press and put everyone, including himself, and maybe even the fans on notice because the Giants have only made the playoffs once in the past four years. Of course, the one time they did they won the Superbowl.
Frankly, as boring as that can make January, the higher picks we got from not making the playoffs, like JPP, sure seemed to make it easier for us to go all the way in the playoffs. Of course the Giants have been good at drafting again since about 2003, so while they can really take advantage of not making the playoffs, they still got playmakers like David Wilson, Reuben Randle and Jayron Hosley after they did win their latest Super Bowl. In any event it's easier to reload or stay loaded if you don't make the playoffs every year. And we've won more Super Bowls with our Manning doing it our way, than the Colts, who did make the playoffs every year with their Manning, did.
On the field, Hakeem Nicks was back doing his thing, which is always good news. Jerry said they want him to be a Giant for a long time, so let's hope something gets done. Also, there was more buzz about Rueben Randle. The concept that he has stepped up has been one of the big themes of the offseason. Let's hope he has, because we really didn't have as much help as we could have used at WR last year when Hakeem was missing time and less than 100%. Also, having a viable third, like we did with Mario Manningham just opens things up for Nicks and Cruz and whoever that is.
Let's go ahead and win it all again this year.
