Yankee Draft `13: Two Guys Who Remind Me of Joba

Two of the RHP's the Yanks took remind me of Joba Chamberlain at the time he was drafted.  They are 5th rounder David Palladino and 13th rounder Cale Coshow.  Basically, when Joba was drafted he was thought to be a little unfinished with massive upside. He'd also spent time at the JuCo level, like both David and Cale.

The big headline on David Palladino is that he's 6'9".  As such I have to keep reminding myself that Gil Patterson is now the Pitching Czar and just because Nardi couldn't get anything out of Andrew Brackman and we still don't know what Dellin Betances is, in year 7, doesn't mean Gil shouldn't get a shot with a really tall guy.  Having said that the reason he reminds me of Joba is because he has multiple pitches that need tuning, and there is velo left in that big body.  It will be interesting to see how they bring him along,

Cale Coshow, not only sounds just like Joba did as a prospect, but he's built like him, too.  He's had conditioning issues as Joba was said to have, and like David also has a bunch of pitches that need fine tuning, and projectable velo, even though he already throws 96.

Palladino will end up signing and I hope Cale does, too.
