Stilll Looking at the Starting Pitcher Market

Following the news conference to announce the Granderson deal, Brian Cashman sat down with the crew from MLB Network. He said against righties Curtis would slot into the two hole in his mind, which doesn't sound like good news for Johnny Damon. He also dropped Mike Cameron's name when he was discussing what a great guy Curtis Granderson is. That was unusual for him, so I think we have to assume that Cameron could be on the way at some point. Anyway, right now, bringing back Matsui to bat 5th makes the most senst to me. But the big revelation was that, having locked up Andy, Cash is still looking at the starting pitching market and was engaging teams and agents in discusccions to that end. He indicated something were "unrealistic" at this point (HELLO, TORONTO!) while others were more realistic. This could take awhile. Go Cash!

The comment I liked the best was when he was asked whether NYS's dimensions and wind tunnel (my words) played a role in the decision to get Granderson, and he replied that they have a high K, high GB pitching staff, and a high flyball, LH power hitting offense.

TX supposedly close to getting Harden.

Texas got Harden.

Cash knows what's up and understands the Yankee history of having guys on the team who could take advantage of the stadium.

That's why Damon or Matsui will probably be back and Holliday probably won't be a Yankee.

No sooner do I say that then there is a report we're still in on Holliday.

Holliday would give us a very scary lineup. Halladay would give us a very scary pitching staff. I prefer pitching but I would not want to part with Montero, Hughes, and maybe not Joba....so Holliday may be possible. If Damon blinked and accepted 2/20, I think Cash would bring him back, but I don't believe Damon will.

If true Damon's days are over as a Yankee. Phil do you see any way we wind up a a Holliday and Doc or Lackaye?or just 1 of them

I'd think just one of them.

Of the three Phil who do you want the most?

Probably Halladay.

Granderson in LF
Cameron in CF
Swisher in RF

Melky/Gardner coming off the bench.

we'd trade Melky or Gardner in that case.

Yanks still sniffin' Holliday!

Bring Matsui in at 8MM and you have an unstoppable hitting club!
