Today, when speaking during the Javy Vazquez tele-conference, Cashmoneygreen said reiterated his speech about that budget and said he's continue to look at options and added "...it's not going to be a big piece." This would seem to rule out adding the perfect fit, Matt Holliday, to the Yanks this holiday season, and yet, I don't think it does. The Yanks go be AAV when looking at their payroll, and right now they could add a 14M player this year and still be under last year's number. If they can get rid of Mitre or Gaudin, they could add a 16M player. Anyway, what seems apparent but isn't being hinted at is that the Yanks can indeed add a player like Holliday and stay under their number if they are a little creative. I wouldn't give up on MH in pinstripes just yet, though I think it would behoove him to approach the team. Go Yanks.

Kay thinks Holliday is in play, and reiterated what Davidoff, that he and his father really want him to play here.
I think they may have to trade Swish first.
It seems like Cashman is methodically taking care of Yankee needs while playing cat and mouse with Boras and his clients. He is shrewd and has a hole to fill in left field. I certainly hope he is not waiting for Crawford next year when he has an option like Holliday this year.

I don't know about trading Swish. I do know everyone's been guessing wrong on the budget number.
I really hope you're right Phil. Holliday in this down economic climate makes too much sense to pass up.
What about Ankiel?

I simply cannot accept the thought that the Yankees will be putting a band-aid in left. Reed Johnson/Brett Gardner or two years of Damon declining is not good enough. I think Cashman has something else up his sleeve.
They're definitely getting a LF, whether it's Halladay, Damon, DeRosa, etc., I don't know.
