Giants Seek Permission to Talk to Raheem Morris
The Giants have asked permission to speak with Raheem Morris about their vacant defensive coordinator post. You might remember Morris had been made head coach of the Bucs when he was 32. He failed as a head coach at his precocious age, but is one of the few coaches to ever have a winning season while starting 10 or more rookies.
Anyway, he's spent the past 3 years as Washington's DB coach. He's only been a DC briefly -- when he relieved Jim Bates of those responsibilities during his time as HC in Tampa. Though he's associated with the Tampa 2, he was not around Tampa when Dungy was. He was a Gruden hire, and thus, if he was involved in the Tampa 2 there it's because those were the players they inherited. Of course, he may love it, but it wouldn't be like we are asking a Bill Walth assistant to throw away the WCO and coach something else - he's coached other coverages.
In all, he's an interesting candidate if the Giants get permission to speak to him.
UPDATE: Permission has been granted.

He is also a locaI, but I wouldn't put it past the Redskins to block him by elevating him.
Beyond that, I think he fits the mold of what I think they should do.
Yeah, he went to Hofstra. The Redskins don't have to elevate him to block him. They can just block him, which is considered wrong, but they can.
Giants blocked Giunta from interviewing for Rams DC a few years ago.
Permission granted :)
Good. I want them to get their top choice. Obvioudly,I have no idea who that is.
