Giants: Fewell Out

The news is finally breaking and Giants Defensive Coordinator, Perry Fewell is out.  That means I get to watch next season.  Seriously, I wish the man well.  He never seemed to be anything but positive, forthright and enthusiastic.  But there was a disconnect between what he had taught and what was being executed on Sundays.  So, good luck to Perry Fewell.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more changes on the staff.  Sort of like the rolling changes we saw last year on offense.

I think we will also see Tom Coughlin get and extension in the near or mid-term.   In other words he might agree on one now, but not have it announced till the Draft or so.

UPDATE:  Coach Giunta is also out.

So if end up firing Fewell and Quinn. We have changed OC, DC, STC in two years. When is it the Head Coach?

Dan, I think they want him to retire as a Giant, and want to give him "fresh eyes" on D, like they did on O this past year.

I think he's sort of like Dick Vermiel in that way, Just the overall key, but needs good coaches.

It's a little weird that Coughlin has been so bad at hiring coordinators on his own, but this is where John Mara shows his superiority to Hal Steinbrenner. You can sum it up in two words: he cares. He has been too loyal to Coughlin (and Reese), but at least he puts some action behind the words.

Anyone still ripping Tom Coughlin for standing pat? #crickets

Last week he was scolding fans for wanting Fewell out.

You're not fooling anyone, Art.

Phil,

I agree with you 100%. I really do believe they know who they want as DC and it is someone that he has trust in.

I think Spags might be this year's Sully, and that we may end up following the McAdoo model of finding a talented outsider.
