Yanks Bringing Back Drew?
So, word is spreading that the Yanks are bringing back Stephen Drew. This will only serve to show their standards have fallen through the floor, and they have no interest at all in handing a job to Rob Refsnyder or Jose Pirela. This is pathetic. I'd rather lose with kids than lose with over 30's who're just bad and collecting FA money.

This is the reason I don't understand why some remain optimistic about the worst GM, dollar for dollar, in MLB.
If they signed Drew for SS and kept Greene, fine, given the fragility of their rotation. It's almost as if they think their own prospects suck.
They need offense and Drew and Refs are likely the best they can come up with at SS/2B.
One caveat: The Phillies like Gregorious. A prelude to Hamel?
Possibly. I would hope not, though, since I don't want to trade the top of the farm for a purported ace.
Me neither, but why have all this defense with what is now a very questionable rotation due to health concerns.
Of course, they could sign Scherzer or Shields.
I'd rather sign Scherzer and lose one pick than lose Severino, Judge, Clarkin, etc.
Lawyer said itin another thread there is something going around that our sports teams have its called stupid-itis
He's making 5 mil -- this move should lead to Ryan being cut and Pirela filling the util role -- hopefully Refs comes to camp and wins the spot but this is cheap insurance if he's going to need a little more seasoning
I wish I could say I was surprised that they couldn't help themselves, but I'm not. I doubt Refsnyder sniffs the roster in 2015.
The fact that Hal has mentioned Refsnyder by name makes me believe that he's going to get a shot as long as he actually produces
Seeing is believing in this instance. Once again it's veteran-ness (I.E. the safe pick, even if he doesn't do well) over the "risk" of a rookie.
They should have just kept Greene if they were going to sign Drew.
Hal is becoming the Larry David version of his father on Seinfeld. Pretty much everything he says is nonsensical and should be ignored.
I'll be the optimist . . . it's not $100 m over 5 years or whatever for a banged up, nearly over-the-hill star. I'm not happy by any means, but if this is an upgrade over Ryan for utilityman it's not the end of the world. We'll know a whole lot more at the end of spring training, which will make spring training that much more worth following.
Oh, it's not the end of the world, it's just a continuation of the same mindset that has killed their ability to finish off development of non-reliever prospects.
This is sad and f'ing messed up?

The "?" should be a "!"
