Giants Offseason Pt. 2
Let's talk a bit about our first top 10 pick since we took Philip Rivers. Picking #9 we have to get max value. That is to say, we are not "close" enough to strictly go for a position of the one need that would put us over the top. So, looking at what's available so far, I think the BPA at 9 will either be an OL or a defensive game changer, and they aren't quite stacked yet.
I don't think there are any WR's worth the top 10, not even Cooper or Strong, though Cooper could be gone by 9. I don't think there's an RB worth it given Gurley's injury, and I don't think there's a TE worth it.
So I really think it will come down to OL, unless a DE, DT or possibly even an LB or S really rises up, but I don't think one has yet. Anyway there are 5 or even 6 OL's who'll have strong grades, three or four of which could even be top ten grades. So that's where the pick should probably be.
There will be a lot of catterwalling about out defense until the season starts, but fixing the OL would really help to keep our cockamamie D off the field, so an OL pick would actually also be a good pick for the defense.

Phil would you approve of Andrus Peat at 9?
Sure, he or any of that top group.
I think he could be our cornerstone LT, and we can get rid of Beatty bad contract IMO.
Probably next year, but we'd also have to find a guard or two for this year.
No more JD Walton types either. I think drafting OT solves a lot of our problems. If rumors are to be believed I'm in FA of Cobb in FA. I like Reese am not sold on Cruz being 100%. I know it's not Giant like but Suh would be an tremendous upgrade on D. BTW how much did those refs get for giving Dallas the game?
Mike ,NFL scout has Peat right at 9 in their ranking.Nice call.
It has to be an OL given where Eli is at in his career.
I would hope they would finally take this opportunity to take one and fix the whole thing.
Per Rock Fewell and Quinn are back. TC is a moron, and Mara is even dumber than we thought.
I'm not posting about that until it is confirmed.
I hope Rock's sources are off, as this would be the stupidest thing they could do.
Raanan just said Perry hasn't been told anything yet...
I wouldn't be surprised. Coughlin has deep flaws as a coach flowing from his silly stubborness. He has had two coordinators that were good here, and both were forced on him.
Watch. Art Staple will scold fans for wanting them gone. The guy is such an idiot.

Daily News: Idea of firing Fewell came up & some in mgmt wanted that to happen. Some in the org had held out hope that TC would hire Spags.

I fear that this could impact making the offense dominant. IOW, to let Tommy Tom save face, they will focus on the defense.
Loyalty is not a virtue when it's blind.
Beyond stupid TC can you smell 5-11?
I get the feeling that nothing has been decided yet.
Oh, I think they will be ok. They will have a .500 talent-floor team, if healthy.
The issue is, as I have mentioned before, dictating to teams and daring them to stop you.
Spags created that on defense.
McAdoo probably can with a better OL.
ST, forget it.
But really, as long as this is Coughlin's last year, no matter what, fine.
And please don't count on Beason. it's a fool's errand.
