Tanaka Time!

Masahiro Tanaka just pitched a complete game shutout against Tampa Bay in a huge game.  He went the full 9 and struck out 10 while only giving up 2 hits.  And man oh man did we need that. An ace-like performance from the Tanakster.  Homers from DJ and  Maybin provided the only 3 runs the Yankees needed.  HUGE.

UPDATE: And Giancarlo returns tomorrow!

Huge performance in the latest of a long list of examples as to why I trust him in a big game.

It’s worth noting the best starting pitchers for the Yankees in the last couple of decades have come after they threw money at the rotation: Mussina, Sabathia, Kuroda and Tanaka. Are you paying attention, Hal?

Tanaka is Japanese for El Duque.

Yanks will have their 3rd shot at Cole in the offseason.

If they really DFA Maybin over Cessa when Judge comes back then they are incredibly stupid.

Judge homered tonight for SWB.

Maybin has moved me into “gonna swear on my dad’s grave if he’s DFA’d...” territory.

Jack Curry said there is “no way” you can remove Maybin from the roster, which is pretty much a guarantee it won’t happen.

And honestly, he probably needs to at least be splitting playing time with Hicks at the moment.
