Rangers Stuff

Reports started circulating yesterday that Tanner Glass was retiring from the French team he has been playing for, to join the Rangers front office in a player development roll.  This is interesting, before my little break, the Ranger beats talked to John Davidson about his plans for the AHL (where they still don't have and new coach) and Player Development.

In short Davidson sees what we see: a system that's not serving the prospects.  He obviously wants to create a development culture in Hartford, if they do, indeed, stay in Hartford. But he also talked about have 3 or so development coaches assigned to watch the amateur prospects in college and major juniros, as well as one that would work Europe.  That could be Tanner Glass.

Though no announcement has been made yet, and bunch of moves are coming and their should be a press release any time now.

What is kind of interesting is that,  literally 2 years ago, the Rangers hired former Ranger Jed Ortmeyer to run player development - working with Adam Graves - and it will be interesting to see if he keeps his job, given the focus JD is putting on a development system that seems broken.
