Judge to Begin his AAA Rehab this weekend

Sorry.  I was over in England for a week and Google wouldn't let me log-in to re-set topics like I always do, and will again this Saturday morning. Anyway, the Yanks announced that Aaron Judge will begin his rehab at AAA over this coming weekend.  For his part, Giancarlo Stanton has been destroying High A and could be back some time next weeek. They are both desperately needed, even though the team has kept its head above water during their absence.  Just walked in and I'm sure there's a lot of other stuff to catch up on.

UPDATE: Stanton has been promoted to Scranton, so they'll both be there this weekend.

Frazier should be off limits for anyone not named Max Scherzer.

I'd move him for a young ace type. I don't think he'll ever be a decent OF.

Problem is unless the Nats make Scherzer available — which I would classify as extremely unlikely — there isn’t an ace type that is going to be available.

I think he could be a decent right fielder that would be carried by his bat. I also think they should have him take reps at first in the offseason/spring training 2020.

I’m not moving him. He sat out last year, had a serious concussion, which hurt his defensive confidence. He us getting attacked by the media and fans, and he is FLOURISHING offensively. here.

No freaking way

Just when I give Happ credit he sucks again

And when does Cashman make trades for top starters? He doesn’t.

They gave Happ $17M. This team needs to find a pitching guru and let him or her build the rotation because what’s in place now isn’t working. A shame they’re gonna waste a very good offense because the starting pitching staff was a paper tiger.

Once both Judge and Stanton come back Frazier should be sent down so he can play everyday in SWB. He wont get that opportunity here playing maybe once ot twice a week.

This way he can work on his defense and increase his trade value.

So predictable

It won’t happen but Cashman should be fired. He’s reach his ceiling. One World Series since 2003. No division championships since 2012. He has every advantage in the world and he has plateaued.

And every World Series he had been the nominal GM for, he had the inherited core.

He’s a good GM, but not good enough.

I think Cash is a rational actor and a good GM. He's also found some guys like Voit and Didi and gotten them at steep discounts. I don't think e was in favor of bringing back ARod and some other stuff, that may or may not have cost him opportunities to chase more titles, as well as bizarre voices above him, like the clown that cost us Yoan Moncada.

He's had more to surf than most GM's.

I’m far from a Cashman hater and don’t want him fired but it is unacceptable that year after year the rotation is consistently in a state of flux instead of being an anchor. Cashman has shown the ability to course correct — signing DJLM for example to give the lineup more balance — but starting pitching is his Achilles heel.

He has advantages almost every other GM doesn’t have. Every year the rotation is in shambles. It’s time to move on.

Nice aside here:
Shohei Ohtani hit a single, double, triple and home run all in the same game — and became the first Japanese-born major leaguer to do it.

The last time the rotation was really solid was 2009 when they had just paid massive bucks to CC, very big bucks to AJ, and had Pettitte at significant money. That’s why they couldn’t be out bid for Keuchel yet they were,

The only other major run was Girardi’s last year, and that was because the bullpen was unconscious, and without judging, it may have inflicted laddamage on the non-closers.

Yet we still have Rothschild, and not because of me but because of Cashman.

We’ve seen this movie too many times.

And they will pretend fix this by trading Frazier who hasn’t even hit his ceiling yet. Except that won’t fix it, there’s too many holes.

And what if Severino is not first half Severino whenever he comes back?

They need fresh eyes

Kuechel is not what they need. He did trade for German, who looks like a good piece, though he should have spoken up about his hip. He did sign Tanaka, and the trade for Paxton made a ton of sense. He also knows that the system is about to produce a bunch of big arms, so he's had to be patient and not trade them for older versions of same. He'll make another good trade by the deadline.

With this mess of a rotation? I disagree.

CC is toast.

Happ is a HR machine.

Paxton has always had injury issues. That continues.

He doesn’t make good trades for SP.

His strength is selling.

As long as Cashman gets to continually f up the rotation, trade for relievers and use openers. He is better at that.

It’s probably worth asking if this rotation is currently beyond fixing and whether or not trading Clint and Estrada for a middling starter is worth it when that likely wouldn’t put them over the top.

The margins for error would be bigger if we had Judge and Stanton in our day to day lineup. Jordan Montgomery is throwing pens and there are some other names on the farm who could help as the season goes on.

At 6:32 PM, Blogger Rich said...

Sure, but that shouldn’t be the case. All winter long, Hal said the goal was to fortify the rotation and this is the product of that singular priority?

I had thought Hicks was starting to find it offensively, but he has been so bad I am concerned that he isn’t 100%.

Another reason not to trade Frazier, a budding offensive star, while hits for AVG and SLG.

For a team that had struggled for years in the postseason to hit with RISP, trading him is to fail one of life’s IQ tests:

FRAZIER’S EDGE: OF Clint Frazier went 2-for-4 on Friday at Chicago-AL…has multiple hits in three of his last five games four of his last seven.

· Has hit safely in 12-of-14 road games since 5/21, hitting .400/.466/.740 (20-for-50) with 10R, 5 doubles, 4HR, 14RBI and 7BB over that span.

· Among MLB hitters with at least 90PA on the road, his .356 BA ranks fourth and his .678 SLG ranks third.

· Is batting .395 (15-for-38) with RISP this season, tied for the fifth-highest mark among AL hitters (min. 30PA)… his .868 SLG with RISP leads all of those hitters.
