At 38, the Yanks took Mizzou LHP TJ Sikkema. We'll see what they mean by this. He's a sort of a starter or reliever with a short build. This is one of the ponderous moves of the current rules. Who needs a stumpy lefty at a bat heavy draft? I don't know what the the idea is here, but it's nowhere near as excitintg as last year's or even the year's before's draft. So far they are 0 for 2 in impressing me.

Honestly — and I'm not knocking these picks in particular because I know nothing about either of them — but it's long past time the fanbase came to terms with the fact that picking in the first round just isn't the Yankees' thing. The sooner we all accept that, the less upset we'll get when we don't understand the picks. They'll get some good value later in the draft I'm sure.
You can find out about any time and see what thyey are, The Yanks had 4 iut of 105 picks, And through the first picks 2 they haven't impreesed yet, nor proven a power upgrade.
LSU shortstop Josh Smith selected with pick 67.
